Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the prompt and fails to meet the minimum word count of 250 words, coming in at 182 words. While the writer manages to express an opinion that people of all ages benefit from hobbies, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient support. For instance, the discussion regarding children and young adults playing games for thirty minutes is too brief and lacks deep elaboration. To achieve a higher band, you must fully develop your ideas with extended explanations and relevant examples, ensuring you write at least the minimum required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs and a conclusion. There is a logical flow in discussing different age groups, such as children and working employees. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the run-on sentences and abrupt transitions like 'not only this but also'. To improve cohesion further, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and ensure that sentences are punctuated properly to guide the reader smoothly through your arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication, but it remains limited and contains noticeable errors. Phrases like 'In this genra' and 'working employees definitily' demonstrate spelling and word-choice mistakes that can cause difficulty for the reader. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'plethora of benefits', but overall control lacks precision. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling, appropriate word collocation, and expanding your range of less common lexical items to express your ideas with greater style and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying heavily on attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. For example, the opening sentence is a massive run-on: 'In this genra it is been so hard for people to give some free time to their hobbies,I strongly believe...' There are frequent errors in tense usage, punctuation, and clause linking, which can cause strain for the reader. To improve, you should practice forming accurate simple and complex sentences, ensuring proper punctuation and avoiding comma splices.
