Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate that each individuals should follow at least one hobby in their life. I believe it is essential because hobbies not only play an important role in maintaining healthy-lifestyle but also provides necessary break from routine life.
To commence with, Most of the people lead a routine life, where all their tasks are autonomus and they hardly get time for themselves. If they pursue a hobby it will give them a break from their boring life. As a result, they can become more productive in their respective work due to freshness that hobbies provide. For instance, people who do any kind of sports are more likely to perform better at their workplace as they rejuvnate by playing it. In addition, people can also maintain good health if they pursue hobbies like running, boxing or gymnastics.
Moreover, children can learn many skills like drawing, singing or dancing by developing habits which is different from their academics. Consequently, they get better at it and can also excell in that field. For example, the world has seen many artist who pursued their hobbies and made career out of it. Furthermore, it is equally important for retired people to have some kind of hobbies so that they can spend their spare-time enjoying their hobbies otherwise it may become difficult for them to live if they do not have any work to do.
In conclusion , I completely agree that developing hobby is important for every age groups as it provides mental peace and necessary break, which helps people in their day-to-day life

| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

| Lexical Resource | 6.0 |
| Grammatical Range and Accuracy | 6.0 |
| Overall | 6.5 |
Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing that hobbies are essential across various life stages. The main ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing how sports improve workplace performance and how hobbies benefit children and retired individuals. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as the broad assertion that all tasks in a routine life are autonomous, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, successfully fulfilling the requirements for this level by offering a clear viewpoint and adequate supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear sense of progression from working adults to children and retired people. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different groups and arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes slightly mechanical or faulty, as seen in the transition 'To commence with' and minor referencing issues. While it clearly meets the requirements of the lower band, it also demonstrates elements of the next band through its logical sequencing of ideas and clear overarching structure. To improve further, the writer could use a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices without relying on formulaic transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'autonomus', 'rejuvnate', and 'spare-time'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'each individuals' instead of 'each individual', 'autonomus' (autonomous), 'rejuvnate' (rejuvenate), 'excell' (excel), and 'artist' instead of 'artists'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary remains minimally adequate to convey the intended meanings about lifestyle and productivity. Greater precision in word forms and careful proofreading would elevate the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues in 'each individuals should follow' and missing articles like 'a routine life' and 'developing hobby'. Punctuation errors also appear, notably the extra space before the comma in 'conclusion ,'. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments easily. A wider variety of fully error-free complex structures would be needed to achieve a higher band.
