Student answer (Band 6.5)

Hobbies are quite essential for everyone as it allows to enjoy our life from hectic schedule. I strongly believe that, everybody including children and senior citizens should have atleast few hobbies, which they can enjoy doing in there spare time. Undoubtedly, It helps to improve productivity and creativity in several ways.

To commence with, hobbies drive to creativity amongst children and youngsters. In other words, having hobbies like playing musical instruments or reading novels allow children to explore pathways for their career. In fact, some people change their hobbies into profession and become successful in their life. For instance, well known singer Taylor Swift switched her career, once she realised her hobby and talent would be the best combination to get success rather than doing job. Hence, creativity always comes from hobbies.

Moreover, It allows to improve productivity and activeness in individual's life. To make it more clear, working people can develope various hobbies such as painting or travelling to get free from their work related stress. Commonly seen that, working professionals often perform better in work place, if they enjoy their hobbies on daily basis. Also, retired people can be live healthy and fit if they develop their hobbies in doing some outdoor and physical activities such as cycling and walking.

To conclude, it is not only crucial but also beneficial for each and everyone to have atleast one hobby throughout their life, because it allows creativity in children, efficiency in working people and activeness in retired. Hence, I firmly believe in this notion as there is no such drawback of having hobbies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You present a clear position throughout the response, successfully addressing all parts of the task by discussing why hobbies are important for different age groups, including children, working people, and the retired. Your ideas are generally extended and supported, such as providing the example of Taylor Swift turning a hobby into a career to support your point about children and youngsters. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as stating broadly that "creativity always comes from hobbies" or claiming there is "no such drawback," which keeps the task response at this level. To reach higher, you could ensure that all supporting arguments are fully nuance-checked and explored with greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your response demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. You make effective use of paragraphing, devoting distinct paragraphs to children, working professionals, and retired individuals respectively. You also use a variety of cohesive devices to link your ideas, such as "To commence with," "Moreover," and "To conclude," though there is a slight mechanical feel to some of these transitions. Referencing is generally clear, and information flows logically from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the final conclusion. For a higher band, you would need to employ cohesive devices and referencing even more flexibly and unobtrusively.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "hectic schedule," "productivity," and "work-related stress." However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling that prevent a higher score, such as writing "atleast" instead of "at least," "develope" instead of "develop," and using "in there spare time" instead of "their." Phrasing such as "doing job" also lacks natural collocation. These minor lexical and spelling errors do not impede communication, but they reflect the limitations characteristic of this band level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses (e.g., "which they can enjoy doing"). However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving subject-verb agreement and articles, such as "as it allows to enjoy," "everybody including children and senior citizens should have," "It helps to improve," and "retired people can be live healthy." Punctuation errors also appear, such as the unnecessary capitalization and comma placement in "Undoubtedly, It helps." While these errors rarely impede communication, the presence of frequent grammatical slips keeps your score at this level.
