Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the importance of hobbies across different age groups and working statuses, and clearly states an opinion in favor of having at least one hobby. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the introduction and the point about stress relief are adequately presented, other points such as creativity and health benefits tend to be repetitive and rely on somewhat generalized examples like cooking, playing football, or chess without deeply extending the argument. To reach a higher band, the ideas would need more thorough expansion, deeper explanation, and more sophisticated examples that directly link hobbies to personal well-being across all mentioned demographics.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the use of paragraphing is generally appropriate. There is a logical progression of ideas as the writer moves from general stress relief to creativity and then physical health benefits. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the awkward phrasal transitions 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition to, people get'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, and some cohesive devices are used rigidly rather than naturally. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that inter-sentence links flow more seamlessly without relying on formulaic transition markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'hectic schedule', 'motivational support', and 'productivity'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the text. Examples include 'atleast' (spelling), 'age in you are' (awkward phrasing), 'at leat', 'somethinng', 'some poeple', and 'peoblems'. Additionally, phrases like 'hobbies give you motivation in their lives' display inconsistent pronoun referencing and imprecise lexical control. While these errors do not seriously impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score, and mastering standard collocations and accurate word formation is necessary for progress.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical and punctuation errors that prevent a higher rating. These include fragment sentences such as 'If someone like to cook and explore new dishes in their daily life. They can be creative...', incorrect preposition use in patterns, subject-verb agreement issues ('hobby play a vital role'), and missing articles or pluralization errors. Despite these errors in grammar and punctuation, communication is rarely impeded, and the majority of simple sentences are constructed accurately. Greater control over complex sentence patterns and punctuation is required to move up.
