Student answer (Band 6.5)
Indulding oneself into an activity which an individual is fond of is a profound way to get connected with innerself. Having a hobby is imperative for all aged populace, whether they may be employed or not. In my opinion, it is of utmost necessary for a person to possess a skill that they can carry out in their free time.
Leisure activity is beneficial in a myriad of ways. First and foremost, personnel can spend their free time working towards the activity they like the most. This way, they will hone their skills and perhaps gain popularity as well as earning from it. For instance, an article from a newspaper became popular in 2020, that a lady runs her home through earning from persuing her hobby of knitting. Moreover, having a hobby helps an elderly to socialize with a group of people who are interested in the same field. This can eventually enhance sense of belongingness in them.
In addition to this, children can learn new skills in thier life. This could be useful for them to develop interest and urge to gain in-dept knowledge about the activity and ultimately become more proficient in it. This can help them to become goal oriented as well. They will be more clear about what they have to pursue when they become adults. To exemplify, teenagers having a good command on playing baseball, can build their career in this particular sport in their later life. Furthermore, working individuals are also benefitted by inculcating a hobby into themselves. Stress levels can be reduced if they spent their free time in some productive work rather than something less efficient.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, expressing a clear position from the beginning that having a hobby is essential for people of all ages. Ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing children, working people, and the elderly. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in places, and certain supporting points, like the example of the newspaper article in 2020 about knitting, lack precise development and clarity. The progression of ideas through various age groups demonstrates a good overall grasp of the task requirements, successfully balancing different perspectives to earn this solid score.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from children to working adults and the elderly. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different stages of life and their relationship with hobbies. However, cohesion feels somewhat mechanical at times, with transitional phrases like "First and foremost," "Moreover," and "In addition to this" operating rigidly rather than flowing seamlessly. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the conclusion where pronouns and referring expressions could link back more smoothly to earlier points, reflecting the characteristics of this well-structured yet slightly formulaic level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their thoughts clearly. There are successful attempts to use less common items such as "imperative," "inculcating," and "goal oriented." However, there are noticeable word-choice and word-form errors that prevent a higher score, such as "innerself" instead of "inner self," "all aged populace" instead of "all ages" or "population," "personnel" used incorrectly to mean individuals or people, and "persuing" (spelling error) instead of "pursuing." Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as "earning from persuing her hobby" rather than "earning a living through pursuing her hobby."
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional ideas. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of errors include awkward prepositional and article usage, such as "Indulding oneself into an activity" (preposition error for 'in'), "of utmost necessary" instead of "of the utmost necessity," "helps an elderly to socialize" instead of "elderly people," and "in thier life" (spelling and pluralisation mismatch). Complex structures are attempted, but control over them is inconsistent, resulting in recurrent minor inaccuracies that keep the score at this level.
