Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion on the importance of hobbies for different age groups and provides some relevant examples. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes unclear. For instance, the first body paragraph attempts to explain how hobbies help build a good career, but the argument transitions abruptly into professional sports players earning salaries, which only partially addresses the broader concept of everyday hobbies for working people and retirees. The second body paragraph mentions staying away from loneliness and provides a convoluted example about women on maternity leave doing hobbies, but the explanation remains superficial and under-developed. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly sustained throughout, leading to a partial fulfillment of the task requirements where some ideas are presented without sufficient extension or support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic organization to the essay with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the response is divided into paragraphs. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression throughout the body. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as the repetitive use of transition markers like 'To start with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude'. Referencing is also faulty at times, making the logical relationships between sentences strained. For example, the sentence starting with 'owing to this it is compulsory...' creates a confusing logical leap right at the beginning of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs is weak, meaning ideas do not flow smoothly from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The vocabulary used is often basic and repetitive, and there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical errors include spelling mistakes like 'wiin' instead of 'with', 'humun' instead of 'human', 'eassy' instead of 'essay', 'fileds' instead of 'fields', 'ay' instead of 'any', and 'stiching' instead of 'stitching'. Furthermore, awkward collocations and word choices appear throughout the text, such as 'contemporary days', 'strength works', and 'view of prospective', which restrict the precision and flexibility of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of structures, with mostly simple sentences and frequent attempts at complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, tense consistency, prepositions, and article usage which can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'In this contemporary days' (preposition and plural agreement error), 'people are often busy wiin their schedule' (preposition error), 'it is compulsory for all humun beings such as younsters, working class along with stopping work' (faulty parallel structure and awkward phrasing), and 'if hard for women to do some strength works' (missing subject and incorrect article/adjective combination). Punctuation errors, such as run-on sentences lacking appropriate separation or conjunctions, also persist throughout the response.
