Student answer (Band 6.0)
I totally agreed with the statement that individuals must have atleast one hobby to do in their leisure time. It is important because it refreshens an individual mentally and physically. From my perspective, hobby vary from generations to generations and also according to the interest of people.
For example, most of the children have a hobby of playing football, crickey and hockey because these hobbies are good for the brain development and physical growth of children. Modern parents also emphasize children on such type of outdoor hobbies. There are several hobbies which are best suitable for indoor like: painting, crochet, cooking etc. Though we can say that, hobbies are not limited to the outdoor activities only. The girls and the retired people adopt most of indoor hobbies which fascinate them and sharpen their skills. Apart from the busy and scheduled life, hobby plays an important role in building different characteristics. From playing in a playground to work with the collegues in office, hobbies teaches us how to be disciplined and patient infront of others. It teaches the team work and dedication to the task as well. One of the most important role it plays that it reduced the stress level from the generation which is good for their well-being and the health.
To conclude, I believe that having a hobby is important for people at every stage of life. Although the choice of hobby may differ according to age and lifestyle, such activities can contribute to a healthier, happier and more balanced life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position throughout regarding the importance of hobbies across different age groups. Ideas are extended and supported, such as discussing how outdoor games like football and cricket aid physical and brain development in children, and how hobbies teach discipline and patience. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as stating that 'most of the children have a hobby of playing football' or assuming all retired people adopt indoor hobbies. The main ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, showing a clear engagement with the prompt while maintaining a consistent stance from introduction to conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, moving from children's hobbies to indoor activities and broader life skills. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with referencing that is not always clear or smooth. For instance, the transition between sentences feels abrupt at times, such as 'There are several hobbies which are best suitable for indoor like: painting, crochet, cooking etc. Though we can say that, hobbies are not limited to the outdoor activities only.' Paragraphing is used, but the central body paragraph is quite dense and could have been broken down further to improve the logical flow and progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common vocabulary such as 'brain development', 'well-being', and 'balanced life'. However, there are some word-choice, collocation, and word-form errors that reflect an inconsistent control of lexical features. Examples include 'refreshens' instead of refreshes, 'atleast' as a spelling error, 'crickey' instead of cricket, and 'work with the collegues' where collocation and word form could be more precise. Despite these occasional errors and spelling slips, meaning is generally clear and communication is not impeded, satisfying the criteria for this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Noticeable errors include subject-verb agreement issues like 'hobby vary from generations to generations' instead of hobbies vary from generation to generation, prepositional errors such as 'emphasize children on such type', and article or pluralisation slips like 'One of the most important role it plays'. Punctuation and structural control show occasional awkwardness, placing the grammatical range firmly in a category with frequent minor non-impeding mistakes.
