Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe everyone should have a hobby, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the different groups in the prompt and give relevant reasons, including fitness, stress relief, creativity and social connection. The examples about playing cricket, reading and retired people’s social hobbies help make the points concrete. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others: the benefits for children and working people receive examples, while the points about young adults and retirees are brief. To strengthen the response further, explain how learning a skill benefits young adults and give a more specific example of a social hobby for retired people. The essay is relevant and supported, though development is not consistently detailed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas progress from general benefits to benefits for working and retired people, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this sequence. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, however. “Although” at the start of the first body paragraph does not introduce a contrast, and “Such as” creates a fragment rather than smoothly connecting the example to the previous point. Repeated references to “hobby” and “people” also make the flow less flexible. Use transitions that express the actual relationship between ideas, and connect examples within complete sentences. Overall, the organisation is coherent, but cohesion is not always natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “work-related stress,” “creativity,” “routine tasks” and “work-life balance.” There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “paramount” and “significant.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision: “minimum one hobby” is unnatural, “keep concentrate” is not the right expression, and “refresh mood” is awkward. Spelling and word-form errors such as “develope” and “Childrens” are also noticeable. Aim to learn common word partnerships and vary repeated terms; for example, use “at least one hobby,” “stay focused” and “improve their mood.” These changes would make your meaning more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including sentences with “when” and “which,” and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “it keep people” should have a singular verb, while “children came … then he go” shifts tense and number within one example. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “have hobby,” and the final sentence beginning “Because” is not a complete sentence in this context. These issues sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning can usually be recovered. Focus first on consistent present-tense examples, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentences; then check articles and plural forms during revision.
