Student answer (Band 6.5)
Engaging in hobbies is an integral part of a balanced lifestyle. It is imperative to have one hobby for juveniles, teenagers, employed persons and retired people. Although some people do not have enough time to focus on their hobby, I believe everybody should spare some time to pay attention on their hobbies because it helps them to relieve their stress and develop new skill.
The primary reason to have at least one hobby is it helps to alleviate stress levels. Since in today's fast paced life everybody is rushing to make money and manage work-life balance, people forget to spare some time for rejuvenating themselves. Thus, end up having high stress levels. So, in order to deal with this it is essential to have atleast one hobby so that working people and young adults can divert their minds from workloads and studies.
The secondary reason is developing new skills. Children nowadays are addicted to mobile phones and waste their time in playing online games. Similarly, retired people do not have much works and have plenty of time to work on their hobbies and develop new skills. Therefore, instead of wasting time in playing online games and just sitting idle it is a better idea to focus on a hobby and learn a new skill.
To conclude, hobbies play an crucial role in everybody's lives. So, it is significant to have at least one hobby for kids, teenagers, working professionals and the retired because it helps them in reducing stress levels and developing a new skill.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby, mainly because hobbies reduce stress and help develop skills. Both reasons are relevant, and the conclusion restates your view. The discussion of stress is reasonably explained through the pressures of work and study, but the skills paragraph is less fully developed: it contrasts children playing games with retired people having free time without showing as clearly how a hobby benefits each group. The examples are also general rather than specific. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits across the age groups named in the prompt and add a concrete example, such as a hobby that builds a child’s creativity or gives a retired person a social connection.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from stress relief to skill development is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The primary reason,” “The secondary reason,” and “To conclude” make the organisation explicit. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and some links between ideas need clearer handling. For example, “Thus, end up having high stress levels” is an incomplete sentence, while the shift from children’s phone use to retired people’s free time feels abrupt. Use a wider range of natural connections and develop each paragraph around a more consistent line of reasoning, with clearer links between examples and the main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “balanced lifestyle,” “alleviate stress,” “rejuvenating,” and “develop new skills.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning remains clear. However, some less common or formal expressions are not used naturally: “pay attention on their hobbies” and “have much works” are awkward, while “juveniles” sounds unnecessarily formal in this context. There is also repetition of “hobby,” “stress levels,” and “developing a new skill.” Aim for more accurate collocations and a little more variety, such as “make time for a hobby,” “have little work to do,” and “build practical or creative skills.” Check spelling and spacing in “atleast” as well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession with “Although” and a reason clause beginning “Since.” Most of the message is understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. “Thus, end up having high stress levels” is a sentence fragment because it lacks a subject; it could be joined to the preceding sentence or rewritten as “As a result, they may experience high stress levels.” In “it helps them to relieve their stress and develop new skill,” the singular noun needs an article or plural form. The phrase “To conclude, hobbies play an crucial role” also has an article error. Continue practising complete sentence construction, articles, and agreement while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
