Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is believed that having atleast one hobby plays a crucial role in the lives of tennagers, kids, employed people and the retired people. I largely agree with this statement because it is a relaxing activity and helps to improve skills.

The major reason for having a hobby is that it helps the retired people and workers to relax. For workers, hobbies help to reduce their anxiety, while for retirees, hobbies can enhance their enjoyment of life after many years focused on their careers. Hobby such as playing chess and collecting coins provides a person with innner satisfaction. Not only relaxation, but a person could also improve their focus and concentration.

Furthermore, hobbies help to keep away children and young adults from phones. Most youngsters keep themselves engaged with social media which also distracts them from studies. Consequently, hobbies would help them to learn something innovative and improve their skills. For instance, a recent experiment done with young students and kids proved that the one who have hobbies could resolve issues easily, while others face daunting situation in facing challenges.

According to my opinion, to keep oneself busy and do something productive hobbies play an imperative role in peoples lives. Every individual must have one hobby in whihc they are interested to keep growing in their life. Childrens from young age should focus on their hobby as this might be helpful in building their carrer.

To conclude, the best way to consume spare time for children, young adults, working people and the retired people is to work on their hobbies. This helps to increase their productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you largely agree that hobbies are important, and you give relevant reasons concerning relaxation, skill development, and keeping young people away from phones. The examples of chess and coin collecting help illustrate the benefits, and the conclusion returns to your main view. This addresses the task, but the support is uneven: the point about workers and retirees is explained more fully than the claim that hobbies help children build a career. The “recent experiment” is also mentioned without details, so its evidence is difficult to assess. To strengthen the response, explain how a specific hobby develops a particular skill and give a concrete example for each age group.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to two reason-based paragraphs, a further statement of opinion, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Consequently,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. This is a coherent arrangement, though some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Not only relaxation, but a person could also improve their focus” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, and the paragraph beginning “According to my opinion” largely repeats the position rather than developing a new step in the argument. Use clearer references and transitions between each reason, and consider integrating that paragraph into the conclusion or using it to develop a distinct supporting example.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “anxiety,” “inner satisfaction,” “focus and concentration,” and “imperative role.” These choices help communicate your ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “consume spare time,” “resolve issues” in this context, and “daunting situation in facing challenges.” Spelling errors, including “atleast,” “tennagers,” “innner,” “whihc,” and “carrer,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “spend free time,” “solve problems,” and “face challenging situations,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and the construction “Not only … but also.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “Hobby … provides” needs an article or plural form, while “the one who have hobbies” has a subject–verb agreement error. “Childrens … should focus” also has an incorrect plural form, and “Every individual … in which they are interested” has an awkwardly formed clause. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and revise complex sentences to ensure that each clause is complete and clearly connected.
