Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is important for younger ones, youth, working people and the grey hair people to have at least one hobby. In my opinion, it is very beneficial for everyone to have any hobby. Few people make their hobby as a profession and as a result they will get a better output. Others enjoy their hobby seperately and it gives them happiness in their leisure time.

First and foremost, some people follow their hobby as a profession. Those people likely to do their job with very low stress because they always enjoy their work, due to which they always get better results in their work. In addition to this, if people follow their hobby seriously and get success through that they can motivate the upcoming generations. For instance, Virat kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Ronaldo, Messi , and many more sports athletes followed their hobby with passion and now they are successful in life.

In this contemporary era, the pressure of studies increasing rapidly on childrens. One hobby can give childrens happiness, this hobby can divert there mind from pressure of academic. In addition, retired people spent their whole life intially in studying then in working, they can enjoy their hobby in their beautiful period of life. For example, in my own experience I love to write poetry in my leisure time. Poetry always helps me to reduce my stress of work and gives me motivation to follow my passion.

In conclusion, it is totally valid that one hobby is very important for each age of life. Because few people follow their hobby passionately and make them more satisfied and successful. Others having at least one hobby can distract their minds from pressure of everyday activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you believe hobbies benefit people of every age, and you address both professional fulfilment and relaxation. The examples of well-known athletes and your own poetry-writing experience make the response relevant and help support the main view. The discussion also considers children under study pressure and retired people, so the task is covered. However, some points are asserted more than explained: for example, the claim that people who turn hobbies into jobs achieve better results could be developed by explaining how enjoyment improves commitment or performance. The point about retired people is also brief. More balanced development of these ideas would make the response more fully convincing while retaining its clear stance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with different supporting points, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Linking phrases such as “First and foremost,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be smoother. The second body paragraph moves from children’s academic pressure to retired people and then to your personal example without clearly explaining how these examples relate to one another. References such as “this hobby” and “they” are not always precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss hobbies, work, stress, and leisure, and phrases such as “follow their hobby as a profession” and “reduce my stress” communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at more expressive wording, including “beautiful period of life.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “grey hair people,” “younger ones,” and “better output.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “seperately,” “childrens,” and “intially,” also reduce accuracy. Some repetition of “hobby” and “people” limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms—for example, “older adults,” “improved performance,” and “pursue a hobby professionally”—and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “due to which,” and “if,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence patterns are controlled, such as “Poetry always helps me to reduce my stress of work and gives me motivation to follow my passion.” However, there are some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Those people likely to do their job” needs a finite verb (“are likely”), while “the pressure of studies increasing” needs “is increasing.” In “One hobby can give childrens happiness,” the noun phrase and article use need correction. Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences carefully; accurate control of these patterns would make the argument easier to follow.
