Student answer (Band 6.5)

In todays fast paced world people are so busy with their work and house that they have no personal time. So, in my opinion it is important to have atlest one hobby for everyone to step out of their same routine and enjoy life a little.

To begin with I believe everybody deserve some me time and it could in form of hobby. If we talk about children having favourite activity could help them grow plus stay focused. For example, there is a girl in India she started dancing when she was five years old and now she became the best dancer in the country by achieving best dancer award this year at the age of 16. Furthermore, it can empower kids to achieve milestones.

In addition to it young adults along with working people are facing issues like depression, stress, etc. because of the lifestyle they are living. Having some pastime which they enjoy could support them to get some stability. This could help oneself relax as well as feel refreshed to start over again. For instance, their was a survey held in America in 2021 which showed that people having liesure time tend to be more manageable as well as happy. Moreover, they usually live balanced life.

Last but not the least retired individuals have all the time in the world which leads them to boredom and loneliness. Therefore, to avoid all this they must have some hobby such as they can join some clubs which have some activites to there taste.

In conclusion, I think although we are bustling with one or the other things in life it is essential to have atleast one interest in life to be attentive and have well-rounded lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear throughout: you believe everyone should have a hobby, and you address children, young adults, working people and retired people. The examples and reasons are relevant, including the child who develops through dancing and the link between leisure activities and wellbeing. This coverage and support make the response convincing overall. To strengthen it further, develop the examples with more explanation rather than relying on broad claims such as hobbies helping people “achieve milestones” or making them “more manageable.” The point about retired people is also less developed than the other age groups: explain how a particular club or activity could reduce loneliness or improve their daily lives. More precise support would make the ideas feel less general.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your opinion, the body paragraphs consider different age groups, and the conclusion restates your view. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The sequence from children to adults to retirees is logical. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore,” and a few connections between claims are not fully explained. For example, the survey is followed by the claim that people “usually live balanced life” without showing how that conclusion follows. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each example and its supporting point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss hobbies, wellbeing and different stages of life, with phrases such as “fast paced world,” “personal time,” “boredom and loneliness,” and “well-rounded lifestyle.” There are also attempts at more specific language, including “milestones” and “stability.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “people are so busy with their work and house,” “support them to get some stability,” and “activities to there taste” do not sound natural. Spelling errors such as “atlest,” “liesure,” and “activites” are noticeable. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more accurate, natural phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “everybody deserve” should be “everybody deserves,” and “she started dancing … and now she became” needs a consistent, appropriate tense. In “Having some pastime … could support them,” the sentence pattern is awkward, while “there was a survey” is confused with “their.” Punctuation and spacing also need attention, as in “stability.This.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct tense, and complete punctuation.
