Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is generally clear: you believe people of all ages should have a hobby, and you give relevant reasons, including learning new skills and gaining relaxation from a busy routine. The example of an older football player teaching others also connects to the idea that hobbies can continue into later life. However, the response only partly develops the task. The discussion focuses mainly on learning and stress relief, with little explanation of why hobbies matter specifically to children, young adults, working people, and retired people. The football example is also incomplete and does not clearly show how the hobby benefits the person or learners. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific, fully connected example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “The second reason,” and “In the conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, “For instance, one player who won many awards in football. Therefore now, he is 70 years old” is fragmented and the relationship between the example and the point is difficult to follow. Some linking expressions, including “Owing to” and “Due to this,” are used mechanically or do not connect ideas precisely. Use complete sentences, make each paragraph develop one main point, and use pronouns and transitions that clearly identify the ideas they refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “hectic schedule,” “relaxation,” “physical and mental peace,” and “entertainment.” These choices show an effort to discuss hobbies and their benefits. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “people,” “field,” and “things,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the meaning less natural. Examples include “in any domin,” “the least one hobby,” and “make better carrer.” There are also spelling errors such as “knowlegde,” “relxation,” and “phsyical.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing broad expressions with specific vocabulary about interests, skills, wellbeing, and leisure would make your ideas clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the “not only … but also” construction and clauses beginning with “since” and “if.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries can make parts difficult to understand. For example, “everyone have their hectic schedule” needs subject–verb agreement, while “it is vital for all aged people have” is missing a grammatical structure after “vital.” The football example is also written as a fragment: “For instance, one player who won many awards in football.” Review how to form complete sentences and use infinitives after expressions such as “it is important for someone to.” Check punctuation and spacing between sentences as well.
