Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this ongoing era, everyone is busy in their life, whether it is an adult, a kid or an old person. I personally believe that everyone should have one hobby to engage in other activities to take a break from their busy schedule. However, I will explain it briefly in subsequent paragraphs.
Firstly, if someone has a hobby, it helps them to keep them mentally and physically fit. Kids are frustrated after their examinations; having a good hobby can help them to relax and also busy with something. For example, they can join swimming classes, which keeps them fit and relax. Also, it helps them to

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear opinion: “everyone should have one hobby,” and give a relevant reason by linking hobbies with mental and physical wellbeing. The swimming example also begins to support this point. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it does not explain the value of hobbies for young adults, working people, or retired people, and the discussion stops before the main idea is developed. The final sentence is unfinished, so the reader does not receive a complete argument or conclusion. The response is also 144 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop reasons and examples. To strengthen your answer, explain benefits for different age groups and complete each supporting point with a specific example and a concluding statement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: an opening paragraph gives your position, and “Firstly” introduces a supporting point. The ideas about children, examinations, and swimming are broadly connected, so the reader can follow the direction of the argument. However, there is no clear overall progression because the response ends during the first supporting paragraph, and there is no conclusion. Some linking is mechanical or incomplete: “However” suggests a contrast that does not follow from the preceding sentence, while “Also” introduces a point that is cut off. Develop a complete paragraph for each main reason, use transitions that show the actual relationship between ideas, and finish with a brief summary of your opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic topic, with relevant terms such as “hobby,” “busy schedule,” “mentally and physically fit,” and “swimming classes.” These choices help make your position understandable. However, the range is limited, and several phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “ongoing era,” “busy in their life,” and “busy with something.” The repeated use of “busy” also limits variety. Aim for more natural collocations and a wider set of words for describing the benefits of hobbies, such as relaxation, stress relief, social connection, and personal development. More precise phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including “whether it is an adult, a kid or an old person” and the sentence beginning “Kids are frustrated after their examinations.” The main meaning is generally understandable. However, control is uneven in places: “it helps them to keep them” repeats the object, and “can help them to relax and also busy with something” lacks a parallel grammatical structure. The final sentence is incomplete, which also prevents the reader from seeing how you would complete the idea. Practise checking pronoun references and ensuring that coordinated verbs share the same form—for example, “helps them relax and keeps them occupied.” Build a few accurate complex sentences to show greater range.
