Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, having a hobby is important for people of all ages. I strongly agree that children, young adults, working people and retired people should have at least one hobby because it reduces stress, improves skills and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Firstly, hobbies help people relax and improve their mental and physical health. Children often experience academic pressure, while working proffessionals faces stress due to their job responsibilites. Engaging in activites such as reading, painting, gardening or playing sports helps them refresh their minds. For example, playing outdoor games can improve physical fitness and make children more active. Similarly, retired people can enjoy gardening to remain engaged and reduce feeling of loneliness.
Secondly, hobbies help people develop new skills and build social relationship. Young adults can learn teamwork through sports, while working professionals may develop creativity through photography or cooking. Moreover, retired people can join community clubs and meet others with similar interests. For instance, joining a badminton club helps people stay fit and make new friends. Therefore, hobbies contribute o personal development and social well-being.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that eveyone should have at least one hobby, regardless of age or occupation. Hobbies reduces stress, develope useful skills and improve relationship. Hence, people should make time of the activites they enjoy. In long run, hobbies can increase happiness, boost confidence and help individuals lead more balanced and fulfulling lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you strongly support hobbies for people of every age. You address the whole task and give relevant reasons, including stress reduction, health, skill development and social connection. Examples such as children playing outdoor games and retired people joining clubs help illustrate these points. However, some support remains general, and the discussion of working people and young adults is less fully explained than the points about children and retirees. The response also falls 21 words short of the required minimum. To strengthen the response, develop one or two examples further—for instance, explain how a hobby fits into a working person’s routine and benefits them—and ensure the response meets the stated length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from health benefits to skills and social relationships is easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” guide the reader, and examples are generally placed alongside the relevant claims. To make the organisation more polished, vary some of these signposts and connect examples to the preceding explanation more explicitly. For example, the badminton-club example could be linked directly to the claim about social relationships as well as fitness. The final paragraph also repeats several earlier points; a more synthesised conclusion would create a stronger sense of progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “academic pressure,” “physical fitness,” “teamwork,” “creativity,” and “social well-being.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and you attempt some topic-specific expressions. However, spelling and word-form errors are noticeable, including “proffessionals,” “activites,” “eveyone,” and “fulfulling.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “build social relationship” and “make time of the activities.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases; this will help you express familiar ideas more accurately and flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses in “because it reduces stress” and “while working professionals may develop creativity.” Most sentences are understandable, and the errors rarely obstruct your meaning. Some agreement and verb-form errors remain: “working professionals faces” should be “working professionals face,” “Hobbies reduces” should be “Hobbies reduce,” and “develope” should be “develop.” There are also issues with articles and number, as in “build social relationship,” and with the construction “make time of the activities.” Continue using varied sentence patterns, but check subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and prepositions when editing. Greater consistency in these areas would make the writing more controlled.
