Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is crucial for youngsters, young adults, working professionals and the retired members of society to have at least one hobby. In my opinion, having a hobby really helps us to relax and unwind from our daily routine. It also makes us passionate, and sometimes helps in career development as well.
Although every individual is quite busy in their daily routine, they hardly try to do something extra, but having a hobby can help them to calm their mind. It could be either reading books, watching TV programmes with loved ones, as well as doing some adventurous activities like hiking or swimming with friends. This applies to both workers as well as retired individuals. Further, students have to face a lot of pressure due to their academics. It creates a burden on their brain. Thus, doing something extra other than their studies is advantageous for their brain development. For example, a study was conducted by World Health Organization on different age groups. It was found that participants with at least one hobby had no signs of neurological disorders such as anxiety, stress, and depression.
Moreover, having a hobby can be beneficial in career development as well. In detail, when try something extra, we learn new skills as well. It develops a passion among us. When we do something new again and again, it becomes our habit. So, good habits always helps us to build a bright future. For Instance, if someone is fond of reading historical books, there is a better chance that he might become a historian in the upcoming future. Therefore, for someone, a hobby can turn into dream as well.
In conclucion, a hobby plays a significant role in one's life to relax and unwind form their daily routine. It can also help to become passionate about something, and can be helpful for getting better jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support hobbies because they help people relax and may contribute to personal or career development. You address the different age groups by discussing workers, retired people and students, and you give relevant examples such as hiking, swimming and reading historical books. The explanation of relaxation is reasonably extended, while the career-development point is less fully established: the historian example illustrates one possible outcome, but the link between hobbies generally and better jobs remains broad. The claim about a WHO study is also presented without detail, so it supports the point less convincingly than a specific personal or familiar example would. Develop this second reason more carefully and avoid generalising from unsupported claims.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop separate reasons, and a conclusion restates the main position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example” and “Therefore” help readers follow the argument, and the progression from relaxation to career development is logical. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical or imprecise: “Although” introduces a contrast that is not clearly completed, and “Thus” moves quickly from academic pressure to brain development. The repeated use of “hobby” and “something extra” also makes cohesion less flexible. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and refer back to ideas with precise wording rather than repeating the same phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “relax and unwind,” “career development,” “adventurous activities” and “neurological disorders.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or repetitive. “It creates a burden on their brain” is not a natural way to describe academic pressure, while “turn into dream” needs a more idiomatic expression. There are also spelling errors in “conclucion” and “form,” and “For Instance” is incorrectly capitalised mid-sentence. Aim for more precise, natural collocations and proofread spelling; for example, use “mental strain” and “develop into a career goal.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “Although every individual is quite busy…” and conditional phrasing in “if someone is fond of reading…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and errors rarely prevent the reader from following your meaning. Some grammatical problems nevertheless recur. In “when try something extra,” the subject is missing; “good habits always helps” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “a hobby can turn into dream” is missing an article. The sentence beginning “It could be either…” also has an uneven construction. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clause structure, then check that paired alternatives are grammatically parallel.
