Student answer (Band 5.0)
In our daily life, each one of us has to deal with a specified routine. it may be, for example, going to school everyday for students, going to work every day for adults. It's true that people have different purposes in life, but having a side hobby is preferable.
Do we really need to have at least one hobby?
In a world where we fight for success, where we are distracted from doing what we love, and where we don't have enough time to do what we love.
There is a lot of reasons why we need at least to have one hobby,
First, let's talk about learning, learning new things is good for a kid's self development, instead of playing with a phone, and being disconnected of reality, i think that the best way to distract a kid is by learning new things. it can help with self improvement, self confidence and his/her intelligent.
Second, people that have a hobby are happy, scientifically proven, doing an activity we love release the hormone of hapiness, which is good for our emotionnal state.
Third, it's good to have a hobby and to have an activity to do in our free time, for example, let's talk about retired people that suffer from boredness when there's nothing to do.
In my point of view, having a hobby may not be important for the majority of people but for me, it remains necessary for having a good state of mind, avoid boredness, and improve self development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear general view that hobbies are beneficial, especially for children’s development, emotional wellbeing, and retired people’s free time. These are relevant reasons, and the examples of learning new things and retirees experiencing boredom help address the topic. However, the position is not fully consistent: you first say a hobby is “preferable,” then conclude it “may not be important for the majority” but is necessary for you. The discussion also focuses mainly on children and retired people, with little explanation of how hobbies benefit young adults or working people. Develop each reason with a specific example and state clearly whether you believe everyone should have a hobby or simply that hobbies are useful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a sequence of reasons, and a concluding opinion. Signposting such as “First,” “Second,” and “Third” helps readers follow the main points. However, progression is limited because the opening question and the fragment beginning “In a world where…” do not lead smoothly into the argument. Several ideas are placed together in long, loosely connected sentences, and the paragraphing does not clearly separate the introduction, supporting points, and conclusion. Some links are also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “where” and “and.” Organise the reasons into distinct paragraphs, connect each example directly to its point, and use referencing and transitions more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “self development,” “self confidence,” “free time,” and “state of mind.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “disconnected of reality” and “emotionnal state,” but inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “boredness” is not the natural noun in this context, and “his/her intelligent” does not express the intended idea correctly. Repetition of “hobby,” “good,” and “do what we love” also limits the range. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling, while choosing precise terms for the benefits you describe.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a relative clause in “people that have a hobby” and a conditional-style example introduced by “where.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete. “In a world where we fight for success…” is a sentence fragment, while “There is a lot of reasons” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “doing an activity we love release” and the final phrase “necessary for having a good state of mind, avoid boredness,” where agreement and parallel structure are not controlled. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, especially after full stops. Practise complete sentence construction, agreement, and parallel forms, then proofread each sentence for boundaries and punctuation.
