Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the topic by discussing hobbies for children, young adults, working people and retired people, and your final point—that people should keep hobbies at any age—shows your general view. The examples, such as music, cooking, gardening and social work, are relevant. However, the opinion is not stated clearly at the beginning, where you say that different people have different opinions and will give a suggestion. Several points are also asserted rather than explained: for example, you say hobbies can become a child’s future profession, but do not illustrate how this might happen. Develop the reasons behind each group’s benefits and make your own position explicit from the outset.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it moves through different age groups and ends with a general conclusion. This makes the main line of discussion understandable. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, with transitions such as “To begin,” “Other hand” and “At last” doing most of the linking. Some connections between ideas are unclear, particularly the sentence about children spending time on social media if they do not have a hobby, and the shift from young people’s activities to their studies. Paragraphing would also help distinguish the groups more clearly. Use topic sentences to state each paragraph’s main point, then connect examples to that point with clearer referencing and linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate a range of examples, including “stress,” “work load,” “reading books,” “cooking,” “gardening” and “social work.” There are also attempts to express ideas beyond basic lists, such as hobbies becoming a profession. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow: “listing music,” “release this problem” and “spend the time with his old friends” are examples. Spelling errors such as “atleast,” “maxmium” and “becuase” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for benefits and leisure activities, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, using forms such as “because” and “so.” This shows some variety, and the reader can usually identify the intended meaning. However, control is inconsistent, especially with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “the kids … wants” should use a plural verb, while “kids have growing his mind and body” needs a clearer verb construction. The opening sentence also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, and “you are any age” does not form a correct conditional clause. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with one clear subordinate clause; check agreement and punctuation during editing.
