Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadys, people od all ages should have one hobby that they can do in thier lesiure time even when they are retired. I am agree with this opinion, beacuse it helps them to not get bored or that may become the source of entertainment for themselves . I will explain my viewpoints in further paragraphs with relevant examples.

Firslt, they should always have one hobby so they can spend their free time. When people are retired from their job they do not have many things to do. Owing to this, they may get bored and they think a lot about small things even they are not matters to them. Hence, if they something to do which gives them happiness and feel good while doing that things. So, it is better for people to have at least one hobby. Moreover, moslt people are workking. They always feel stress of thier work. For example, if person's hooby to listen to music when they are stressed then they can listen to music like songs which are close to thier heart. It will helps them to reduce thier tension also they can feel fresh and relax.

In my view point, it is a good idea to have a hobby at any age.Because it helps to become a more creative person and also improve skills such as things like drwaing, painting, music and so on make perso's mind shapre and active. Also if person is intersted in sports then it will not only help people's mental health but also physical health. Furhtermore, they become independent becuse when people are giving first preference to their hobby they do things alone . In which they they can learn how to perform alone and to tackle the issue if they face by any chance.

In conclusion, I strongly agree to have hobby at all ages becuase it helps them to spend thier free time and they may connect with other people and then they learn many things about life, thier sourrounding area and many more. Hence, it is important for indiviusal to have a hobby.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I am agree with this opinion”) and is maintained in the conclusion. You address the importance of hobbies across different ages, giving relevant reasons: they can relieve boredom after retirement, reduce work-related stress, develop creativity, and support mental and physical health. The music example helps illustrate stress relief. This meets the task well, and the range of reasons shows some development beyond a simple statement of agreement. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that hobbies make people “independent” is not clearly connected to how they practise a hobby alone. Develop fewer ideas with more precise explanation or a specific example to make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from free-time and stress benefits to personal development, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. In the first body paragraph, “Hence” and “So” introduce overlapping conclusions, while “if they something to do” interrupts the reasoning and makes the link difficult to follow. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from creativity to health and independence without clearly showing how these points relate. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph’s central idea and supporting explanation more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “retired,” “stress,” “creative,” “mental health,” and “physical health.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and examples such as listening to music and taking part in sports make the discussion concrete. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural, including “source of entertainment for themselves,” “feel fresh and relax,” and “mind shapre.” There are also repeated general terms such as “things,” “good,” and “hobby.” Build accuracy with common collocations and more precise topic vocabulary; for example, describe hobbies as helping people “unwind” or “develop practical skills,” rather than relying on broad expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional and reason clauses, as in “if person's hobby to listen to music when they are stressed.” This shows an effort to vary sentence forms, but the complex structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the intended relationship difficult to understand. Examples include “I am agree,” “if they something to do,” “It will helps them,” and “they they can learn.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “at any age.Because” and “if person is interested.” Practise building accurate clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation. More reliable control of these basics will allow your ideas to come through more smoothly.
