Student answer (Band 6.0)
A hobby is an activity that people do during their free time. I strongly agree that It is crucial for youngsters, adults, working class and the elderly to engage in at least one type of hobby.
One imporatant factor why leisure activities is good for young children is that it helps develop creativity and enable them discover their talent. In other words, youngsters can develop useful skills through this means. For instance, a child who plays football can learn how to cooperate with others and follow rules. Therefore, they will engage in this activity at a very young age and be able to interact with one another by incorporating those new skills they might have learnt like dribbling while playing footfaball.
Furthermore, an equally important reason why this is beneficial to workers is that it helps alleviate stress and improve well being. This is because it will help create a balance work and personal life. For example, a worker who enjoys gardnening may feel refreshed after spending time caring for plants.
Thus, it will help improve mood and uplift the mind. This would also help increase the level of happiness a person experience.
Moreover, its usefulness for retired people is they reduce boredom and feeling of loneliness. This is mainly because it can help provide a opportunity to socialise with other people. To illustrate this, a retired person who joins a gardnening club can can make new friends and enjoy a sense of community. As a result, it will help maintain their mental and physical well being.
In conclusion, everyone can benefit from having a hobby regardless of age or occupation. Hobbies imporve well being, develop skills and provide enjoyment. Therefore, I completely agree everyone should engage in on hobby at least.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and is maintained in the conclusion. You address the importance of hobbies for children, working people and retired people, with relevant examples such as football and gardening. The explanation of how football can teach cooperation and rule-following is particularly useful. The response also shows some awareness of benefits across different ages, supporting the view that the task is substantially addressed. However, young adults are not discussed distinctly, and the benefits for adults are less fully developed than those for children. Some claims, such as hobbies improving happiness or physical well-being, would be stronger with a clearer explanation or a specific example. To develop the argument further, cover every group explicitly and extend each main reason with a precise explanation of its effect.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on children, workers and retired people, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the progression, and each body paragraph has a recognisable central focus. This makes the argument generally easy to follow. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical, and some references are unclear. For example, “Therefore, they will engage in this activity” does not clearly explain what follows from the previous point, while repeated uses of “it” and “this” make the referent uncertain. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use more precise referencing and make the relationship between each example and its claim explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “alleviate stress,” “creativity,” “cooperate,” and “sense of community.” These choices help express several relevant benefits, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “caring for plants” and “interact with one another.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “a balance work and personal life” and “the level of happiness a person experience.” Spelling errors such as “imporatant,” “footfaball,” “gardnening,” and “imporve” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use familiar vocabulary precisely before reaching for more elaborate phrasing, and proofread carefully for spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “because” and “who,” and most ideas remain understandable. The examples are generally expressed in complete sentences, and the response includes some variety in sentence openings. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “leisure activities is good” should use a plural verb, and “a opportunity” needs the correct article. In “it helps develop creativity and enable them,” the verbs do not agree in form; “a worker who enjoys gardening may feel refreshed” is a more controlled example. The phrase “a balance work and personal life” also needs a grammatical structure such as “a balance between work and personal life.” Review agreement and article use, then check that each sentence has a clear, complete structure.
