Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe hobbies benefit people of different ages by developing skills and creativity and reducing stress. You address both groups in the prompt, and the examples of children attending hobby classes and adults relaxing after work are relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained—for instance, the claim that hobbies improve children’s “lives and cognitive skills” is not developed with a specific explanation or example. The discussion of retired people is also brief. The response is six words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement; adding a developed example or explanation would help you meet it while strengthening your support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs on younger and older people, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow, and transitions such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. To make the progression more natural, avoid relying on formulaic linking phrases and develop clearer links between each claim and its explanation. Some sentences repeat the same point, particularly the conclusion’s summary of skills, creativity, and stress relief. There are also spacing and punctuation issues around sentence boundaries, such as “skills. This” and “social.Even,” which interrupt the flow. More precise referencing and less repetition would make cohesion more flexible.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “creativity,” “concentration,” “confidence,” and “sense of happiness.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “hobby,” “stress free,” and “help,” and several choices or forms are inaccurate. Examples include “relives the stress,” “a new skills,” “accumulate new talent,” and “probvide.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning, although the overall message remains understandable. Aim to use more precise collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. For example, describe hobbies as “relieving stress” or “developing abilities,” rather than repeating broad phrases such as “help them improve their lives.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if children and young adults learn new skills … it can help them” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. These include article and number agreement in “a new skills,” the plural form in “among childrens,” and subject–verb agreement in “people joins.” The opening phrase “It is an essential” also has an incorrect article pattern. Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly where a space is missing after a full stop. Practise checking articles, singular and plural forms, and agreement, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
