Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people should have a hobby, and you give two relevant reasons—physical health and stress reduction. The yoga and exercise example helps illustrate the first point. However, the response addresses the task only partially because both reasons are explained briefly, and the second example about students and professionals having little time for their parents does not clearly show how a hobby reduces stress. The introduction also promises to discuss the issue without stating a more specific line of argument. The response is 19 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your ideas. Add a fuller explanation and a directly relevant example for each reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The sequence from physical benefits to mental benefits is logical, and phrases such as “For instance” and “To sum up” help signal examples and closure. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion of people not having time for their parents does not connect smoothly to the claim that hobbies reduce stress. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and “In this case.” Punctuation and spacing also interrupt the flow, as in “pthers. For example” and “things .People.” Use clearer links between each claim and its supporting explanation, and check sentence boundaries and spacing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a limited but relevant range of vocabulary, including “physical health,” “reduces stress,” “mental health” and “pivotal role.” These phrases make your main ideas understandable. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the reader pause, such as “excersie,” “definiately,” “permote” and “pthers.” Several expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, including “maintain remarkable health” and “the more benefits he obtained.” Repetition of “hobby,” “health” and “time” further limits the range. Aim to use accurate collocations and vary key terms where appropriate—for example, refer to a hobby as a “leisure activity” or explain that it can “support wellbeing.” Proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex structures, including the comparison “The more a person have time for his hobby the more benefits he obtained” and the conditional idea “if a person’s hobby is yoga and exercise he would…” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Examples include “people who have something to do has,” “a person have,” and “he would not feel stress,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “to have hobby” and “In this essay I will discuss the reasons regarding to this discussion.” Practise accurate conditional forms and agreement, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
