Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is essential to have atleast one perticular hobby for children, adults and retired persons. I strongly agree with this statement.
There are several advantages of having a hobby. Firstly, it serves a purpose in life. For example, many people have tendency to get bored when they have no job or no any important task to do. Consequently, it leads them to take wrong choices such as addictions and procastinations. Secondly, hobbies can help individuals to develop cognitive skills and creativeness. For instance, doing art and playing any musical instrument can help person become creative.
Lastly, having a hobby can also improves mental health. Often, old people struggle with mental illness such anxiety and depression. Hence, having a hobby can help them to keep engaged with certain activity which eventually improves their mental health. Moreover, hobby can also make you successful in life. Many famous singers and artists had a passion and subsequently they worked on thier passion and eventually end up with fame and wealth. Similarly, parents should encourage their children to follow their passion and find their hobby so that thay achieve more in life.
To conclude, hobbies can not only make you intellegent but also help you to grow in life therefore, everyone should have at least one hobby.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: “I strongly agree,” and you give relevant reasons, including purpose, cognitive development, mental health, and possible success. These points address the question, but they are not developed equally. The discussion of creativity includes a brief example, while the claims about avoiding “wrong choices” and achieving “fame and wealth” would benefit from explanation or a more specific example. The conclusion restates your view but adds little synthesis. The response also contains 211 words, below the required 250, so there is limited space to explain your ideas fully. Develop two or three reasons in greater depth and support them with concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a body paragraph presenting several benefits, and a concluding statement. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Lastly,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the main points. However, the body paragraph combines several distinct ideas—purpose, creativity, mental health, and career success—so the progression feels list-like rather than fully developed. Some links are also mechanical, and references such as “it” in “it leads them to take wrong choices” could be clearer. Organise each main reason into its own paragraph, connect examples directly to the claim they support, and use a wider range of natural transitions to make the relationships between ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “cognitive skills,” “mental health,” “depression,” and “passion.” These choices help communicate several different benefits of hobbies. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “serves a purpose in life,” “take wrong choices,” and “make you intellegent.” Spelling errors, including “perticular,” “procastinations,” and “thier,” also reduce accuracy. The meaning is generally understandable, but more precise and natural phrasing would strengthen the response. Review spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships—for example, people “make poor choices,” and hobbies can “provide a sense of purpose.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional purpose clause in “so that they achieve more in life” and a relative clause in “people have tendency to get bored.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “having a hobby can also improves” should use the base verb after “can,” and “help person become creative” needs an article. There are also issues with articles and countable nouns in “have tendency” and “certain activity,” as well as agreement in “hobbies can not only make you … but also help you.” Check modal verb patterns, articles, and subject–verb agreement, then proofread punctuation and spacing. More accurate control of these structures would make your varied sentences clearer.
