Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is no doubt that hobby can play a significant role in life.I sincerely believe that it is important for children, teenagers, working professionals and the retired to have at least one hobby. Having at least one hobby has numerous advanatages. I will discuss all the reasons why at least one hobby is vital in the following paragraphs.

To begin with children, due to modernization of world, it is observed that children are more stressed with study material.they are becoming bookworms. Therefore, it become necessary for children to have one of the hobbies to calm their mind and utilize their spare time in creative way. These hobbies include pottery and playing indoor games.

Moving forward for young adults, after study most of them feel stressed and this is the best time to adopt any hobby which can also become profession in future. For instance, a famous Indian Youtuber, Mr. Dhruv who is well know personality among youngsters all around the globe. After completing his graduation, Dhruv, started making videos as hobby then after couple of years his videos got viral on social media and he became a youtuber. Thus, having hobby for young ones can be profitable.

Furthermore, the ones who are belong to working class having at least one hobby can play a vital role to release stress from theirr corporate life. Receartion activites such as swimming, playing cricket, doing voluntary jobs relaxed the individual and give a quick break. Therfore from my perspective, they this age group should have at least one hobby.in addition to this , the one who already retired from their jobs, they should also have a hobby. for them gardening is the best practice. where they can spendtheir leasure time and can have some exercise such as sitting standing and benting wich may help them to stay fit and active.

in conclusion, having at least one hobby for all age groups offers different advanatges such as for children it offeres calm and relax mind for young and working people it offer break from their busy schedule. lastly for old people it can be best for spending their free time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe every age group should have a hobby, and the conclusion restates this view. You address children, young adults, working people and retirees, with relevant reasons such as relaxation, possible career opportunities and staying active. The YouTuber example gives the young-adult point useful support. However, the groups are not developed equally: the children’s paragraph offers only brief examples, while the retirement point is mostly a general suggestion about gardening. The conclusion also summarises benefits rather than drawing together the reasons in detail. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how each example supports your opinion and develop the less-supported age groups with specific, relevant details. The response meets the stated length requirement; nine words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate discussion of age groups, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moving forward” and “Furthermore” help signal the progression, and the reader can generally follow the main argument. This clear organisation is a strength. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the final body paragraph combines working people and retirees in a long, crowded sequence, making the shift between groups less clear. The conclusion repeats the age-group structure rather than synthesising the argument. Use clearer paragraph boundaries, keep each paragraph focused on one group, and vary linking methods by showing relationships between ideas—for example, contrast the different ways hobbies benefit children and adults.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “spare time,” “corporate life,” “gardening” and “stay fit and active.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “utilize their spare time in creative way” and “release stress.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and sometimes make the reader pause: “advanatages,” “Receartion activites,” “leasure” and “benting” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, including “stressed with study material” and “the ones who are belong to working class.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “relieve stress,” “academic workload” and “working adults.” This would make your ideas clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures with “Therefore” and “Thus,” and a relative clause in “a famous Indian YouTuber … who is well know personality.” These attempts show some range, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur often enough to affect ease of reading. Examples include “it become necessary,” “the ones who are belong,” “they this age group should,” and “it offeres calm and relax mind.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where a new sentence begins after a full stop with a lowercase letter. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles, complete clause structure and sentence punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
