Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that hobbies are important for people of all ages, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The discussion of team sports links hobbies with fitness, discipline and social contact, while the painting example shows how a hobby can support personal growth and even generate income. These examples help address the task. However, the opening promises to explain which hobbies people should have, but the essay does not really develop that point; it mainly explains benefits. Some claims, such as hobbies helping people become “the best version” of themselves, remain broad and would be stronger with a specific explanation or personal example. Develop the ideas more evenly and connect each example directly to your opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from health and discipline to personal growth and social interaction is generally easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” help signal the stages of the argument. At times, however, cohesion feels mechanical, and some sentences contain several ideas joined together, making the relationships less clear. For example, the long sports example moves from playing with friends to fitness, mental sharpness, rules and age in one sentence. Break such passages into shorter units and use clearer references to show how each detail supports the paragraph’s main point. This would make the overall flow more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “disciplined,” “personal growth,” “social interaction,” and “home decoration,” and you attempt to express ideas beyond basic statements. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “hobby,” and “life,” while several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward. Phrases such as “keep motivate to their self,” “showing them in front of public throw their skills,” and “make sharp their mind” make some meanings harder to understand. Spelling errors, including “thier” and “Accoding,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for describing benefits and activities, and check spelling and natural word combinations when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “It is often argue” needs a passive form, and “having good hobby really help” has problems with the article and subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “For example” in the first body paragraph is especially difficult to control because many clauses and ideas are joined together. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, such as the capital letters after commas in “In this essay” and “People.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then use complex clauses in shorter, clearly punctuated sentences.
