Student answer (Band 6.0)
A hobby is one of the reasons people have better mental health and a healthier body. It is important for children of all ages, young adults, working people and older retirees to have at least one hobby to learn and enjoy in their lives.
One of the first reasons is that it's a way to fight mental illness. In my own experience, I have been diagnosed with chronic depression, and one of my hobbies is the source that helps me cope with my depression. For instance, the hobby that helped me with my chest pain every time I was attacked by my anxiety is running; it helped me feel light after my five kilometers my chest pain on the spot reduced. Additionally, I was just doing it to cope with my mental illness, but it also made my physical body fit and strong.
Moreover, a hobby is very popular nowadays; it took me many trials to find what is the best hobby for me. My child who is interested in the arts is very helpful for his mild austism condition and reading borrowing a book at the library as his new hobby improve his vocabularies. Working people show interest in any kind of sports after their shift from work give them work-life balance. Young adults who are into hobbies are found to have a better and happier life. For older people, and especially for retired people, finding a hobby even on their late age adds up to staying fit and healthy, contributing to their well-being.
To sum up, in my opinion, hobby has a positive benefits to our lives. Whether you are young or an adult, it is especially important to have hobbies that we are passionate about and enjoy doing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you believe people of all ages benefit from having a hobby, and you address children, young adults, workers and retirees. The personal example of running to manage anxiety and depression gives the argument a relevant, specific basis, while the points about fitness and work-life balance extend it. This meets the task well, though the support is uneven: the benefits for your child and for older people are mentioned briefly, and the claim that young adults with hobbies have a happier life is not explained. To strengthen the response further, develop these points with a short explanation or example, and make the link between each age group and the benefits more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish your personal experience from the broader examples, and signposts such as “Moreover” and “To sum up” make the main stages easy to follow. However, the second body paragraph moves quickly between your child, workers, young adults and retirees, so the progression feels list-like rather than fully developed. Some links between ideas are also unclear, particularly in the sentence beginning “My child who is interested in the arts.” Organise the age-group examples in a more deliberate sequence and use clearer references and transitions to show how each example supports your central view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mental health,” “cope,” “work-life balance,” “passionate” and “well-being.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and the personal account gives you opportunities to use specific language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the source that helps me cope,” “my five kilometers,” “adds up to staying fit,” and “positive benefits.” There are also errors in word forms, including “vocabularies.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning remains understandable. Aim for more natural combinations and check whether nouns are countable and whether a phrase expresses the intended relationship precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “that,” “who” and “whether,” and you use a range of tenses to discuss personal experience and general benefits. The main message is generally clear, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy and occasionally make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Working people show interest in any kind of sports after their shift from work give them work-life balance” has an unclear subject–verb structure, while “hobby has a positive benefits” has an agreement and article problem. The sentence about running and chest pain also needs clearer clause boundaries. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
