Student answer (Band 5.5)
Kids, young people, working adults, and older people all need to have at least one hobby. However, if you have a good body, you have a good mind. In my opinion, it is very essential for all of us to have at least one of our favourite hobbies, and we need to give at least one hour daily to our hobby. It keeps our bodies relaxed and gives positive vibes.
In childhood, we all had many hobbies, and we liked to play all the time. Such as, children like to choose hobbies which attarcts them most. Moreover, having a lot of hobbies is beneficial for children's development and keeps them busy, and they learn new skills and creativity with other kids.
On the other hand, young people and working adults have been facing many issues about studies and workload. For instance, many youngsters face academic pressure; however, having a hobby gives them relaxation, and they can concentrate more on their studies. In addition, Money is very important for everyone. So, working people have to manage their time for a morning walk and try to get involved in gym activities to boost their energy level.
Older people, at this age, need rest; however, they have to engage and take part in household activities and go for a walk with their peers or do what they like as a hobby, such as many older people like to gardening and growing homemade vegetables in their yards; some of them have animal farms.
In conclusion, children, young adults, working people, and the retired need to have at least one hobby. A hobby helps you relax and keeps you busy on your bad days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby, and you give relevant reasons, including relaxation, children’s development, and relief from study pressure. The response addresses the different age groups named in the prompt, with examples such as older people gardening or walking with peers. However, some parts are developed more fully than others. The points about children’s creativity and young people’s concentration are mentioned but not explained with a specific example or fuller reasoning. The discussion of working adults also shifts towards money and exercise without clearly showing how these activities function as hobbies. Develop each age-group point with a direct explanation and a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs discussing age groups, and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition.” At times, however, connections feel mechanical or do not show the relationship between ideas precisely. For example, “On the other hand” introduces another group rather than a contrasting viewpoint, while “In addition, Money is very important” does not clearly connect money to the value of hobbies. Some sentences also contain several ideas joined together, particularly in the paragraph about older people. Use more precise transitions and separate distinct points to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including terms related to different life stages and activities, such as “academic pressure,” “workload,” “household activities,” and “growing homemade vegetables.” There are also attempts to express benefits with phrases such as “boost their energy level.” However, the range is limited in places, and some word choices or combinations sound unnatural or imprecise, including “positive vibes,” “good body,” and “many issues about studies.” The spelling error “attarcts” also affects accuracy. Aim for more precise, formal phrasing and check spelling and collocations. For instance, describe the mental and physical benefits directly rather than relying on vague expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer sentences with clauses, and the main meaning is generally clear. Some structures are handled successfully, such as “having a hobby gives them relaxation, and they can concentrate more on their studies.” However, there are some errors in sentence formation, agreement, and verb patterns. “Such as, children like to choose…” is an incomplete construction, and “many older people like to gardening” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “In addition, Money…” also has an unnecessary capital letter after the comma. Several long sentences combine multiple ideas, making punctuation and structure less controlled. Practise complete introductory clauses and verb patterns such as “like gardening,” and divide longer sentences where needed.
