Student answer (Band 6.5)
Every human being on this planet develop some hobbies throughout their life span. These could vary and changes as the person grows. A child could be interested in drawing and later likes to dance when reached an adulthood. As per my opinion one should always figure out their interests and have at least one hobby which makes them feel happier.
To commence with, having a hobby makes the person passionate about certain things and improve their critical thinking skills along with creating a wider spectrum for seeing things differently. Not only this, having a hobby has shown a positive growth in the kids mentally. Adding more, aged people who work on their hobbies have shown better mental stability and decreased signs of dimensia during the later stages of the life. Hence, having a hobby is very important for your mental state at every age of your life.
Furthermore, having a hobby and being passionate about it helps people having an additional source of income. People who have the hobby of dancing can start a dance workshop after mastering their hobby and can earn even by doing it as a part-time job. In this way they can pursue their hobby and make some money as well. This can be a great source of income for the retired persons also who wish to continue their hobbies and earn some decent amount of money.
To conclude, having at least one hobby can help individuals through out their lives not only to be creative but can also help them to earn a little extra for themselves. Therefore, everyone should try to find some time to explore new things from the beginning of their lives and continue exploring till the end.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you believe everyone should have at least one hobby, and you maintain this view through the conclusion. You address the task with relevant reasons, explaining that hobbies can support mental wellbeing and provide extra income. The examples of older people and retired people help connect your argument to different age groups. To make the response more fully developed, explain the mechanisms behind some claims: for instance, how a hobby might improve children’s thinking or help older people maintain mental stability. The income point is illustrated through dance workshops, but could be balanced with a clearer explanation that earning money is a possible benefit rather than a likely outcome for every hobbyist.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting distinct benefits, and a conclusion that restates your view. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “To conclude” make the stages easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some features of stronger progression. However, several transitions feel formulaic, particularly “To commence with” and “Adding more,” and the repeated use of “having a hobby” makes connections somewhat mechanical. Some references could also be clearer: “This” in “This can be a great source of income” refers to the preceding idea, but a more explicit link would improve flow. Use a wider range of natural transitions and vary how you refer to hobbies.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to discuss the topic, including phrases such as “critical thinking skills,” “mental stability,” “part-time job,” and “source of income.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “wider spectrum for seeing things differently,” “positive growth in the kids mentally,” and “decreased signs of dimensia.” There is also a spelling error in “dimensia,” and phrases such as “decent amount of money” are imprecise for this context. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and check spelling, especially for topic-specific terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the relative clause “which makes them feel happier” and the conditional example about people starting a dance workshop. The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “Every human being … develop” needs subject–verb agreement, while “These could vary and changes” mixes verb forms. “A child could be interested … and later likes” also shifts tense, and “helps people having” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Articles and prepositions need attention in phrases such as “during the later stages of the life.” Practise checking agreement, consistent verb forms, and verb patterns; more accurate control of these structures would make your varied sentences stronger.
