Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people have different responsibilities and busy schedule depending on their age and lifestyle. Some people believe that children, young adults, working people, and retired individuals must have at least one hobby. I strongly agree with this view because hobbies improve people mental well being and help them to develop extra skills.
Firstly, hobbies are important because it can relieve stress and maintain a good mental health. Some people spend tiring day at work may need one hobby which can help them to freshen up and generate happy mood. Moreover, Student spend several hours at school and experience pressure from studies. Having a hobby such as gardening, painting , cooking and sports assist them to have a break and get relaxed. Similarly, hobbies can help retired people to get out from boredom and be energetic which can strengthen their physical as well as mental health.
Additionally, Hobbies can develop skills in the individuals of different age factors. The children who has an interest of any sport and consider it as a hobby may spend more time to practice it and build a skill which can be beneficial in future to pursue a career in relevant field. Lastly, hobbies provides opportunities to meet people with similar interests and build team-work skills. To interact with people in a same interst or hobbies can help them to overcome from loneliness and strengthen relationships.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that everyone should have at least one hobby. Hobbies not only improve the health and skills, However it has a vital role on a person's way of living and personal development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the broad age groups in the prompt, explaining how hobbies can support workers’ wellbeing, give students a break, keep retired people active, and help children develop skills. These relevant reasons are extended with examples such as gardening, painting and sport, so the response does more than simply list benefits. To strengthen the discussion further, develop a few points with more specific explanation: for instance, explain how a hobby might help a working person manage stress in daily life, or how a child’s sporting interest could lead to a future career. The point about meeting people and building teamwork is relevant but receives less explanation than the wellbeing argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present distinct benefits, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from wellbeing to skill development is logical, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Additionally,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Within the first body paragraph, you also move through different age groups in a sensible way. To make the organisation more polished, use transitions less mechanically and connect examples more explicitly to the main claim. The final point about meeting people and overcoming loneliness is added to the skills paragraph, although it introduces a social benefit; a clearer link or separate development would improve the paragraph’s focus. Check references such as “it” in “hobbies… it can relieve stress,” which make the connection less clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “mental well being,” “pressure from studies,” “pursue a career,” and “overcome from loneliness.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the examples of hobbies make the discussion concrete. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “team-work skills” and “personal development.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “generate happy mood,” “age factors,” and “interst.” Repetition of “hobby” and “help” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms; this will make your meaning more precise and natural without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including reason clauses with “because,” a relative clause beginning “who,” and a contrast introduced by “Similarly.” This gives the response some sentence variety, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, “hobbies… it can relieve” should use a plural pronoun and verb, while “The children who has” and “hobbies provides” also have agreement problems. “Some people spend tiring day at work may need…” combines clauses without a clear grammatical link, and “Hobbies not only improve… However it has…” does not form a balanced construction. Review agreement, articles, and how to join clauses, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
