Student answer (Band 5.5)

Abviously it is important for all age groups to have a hobby in their life .It doesnot matter either you are doing any job or you are retired every body must have hobby in their life.

Those people who have not any hobby in their life those are living their life by their own.On other side Having hobby in life is a sign that you are make some time for your self which is very important.

Especially children and young adults must have some hobbies in their life to feel active and happy.Because if they do not have any hobby in their life then they use there free time in different activities which are not socially good.

Those people who are retired if they have any hobby in their life they spend most of their free time for that purpose which make them busy and they do not feel bored or upset after retirment. Most of the hobbies are good for mental and physical health.

My opinion is every age group must have any hobby in their life .I know some retired and young people who have not any hobby in their life and when they got free time mostly they went to the pub or gaming zoon where they spend alot of money and waste their time, if they have good hobbies in their life then they must save those money and also feel good menatly and physically by enjoying thier hobby. So having hobby in life is so much important for healthy mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you believe people of every age should have a hobby, and you address children, young adults and retired people. You give relevant reasons, including that hobbies can keep retirees occupied and support mental and physical health. The example of people spending free time at pubs or gaming venues also helps illustrate your concern. This covers the task well, but some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, you say children without hobbies may choose activities that are “not socially good” without giving a specific example or showing how a hobby would help. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and avoid broad claims such as “every age group must” without qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening opinion, reasons about younger people and retirees, and a concluding restatement. This gives the reader a general sense of direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several links are repetitive or awkward. The repeated phrase “in their life” appears throughout, while “On other side” does not clearly signal the relationship between the ideas that follow. The final paragraph combines your opinion, an example, its consequences and a conclusion in one long sequence, making the argument harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences, group related points, and connect each example directly to the reason it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “hobby,” “free time,” “mental and physical health,” and “retired.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “have a hobby in their life.” Some word choices and collocations are unclear or unnatural, such as “living their life by their own,” “gaming zoon,” and “feel good mentally and physically by enjoying their hobby.” Spelling errors, including “Abviously,” “retirment,” and “thier,” also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Build a wider set of natural expressions for leisure and wellbeing, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main position using mostly simple sentences and make some attempts to connect ideas with clauses, as in “if they do not have any hobby in their life then they use…” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors recur in sentence formation, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “every body must have hobby” needs a correctly formed subject and article, while “which make them busy” does not agree with its antecedent. The opening also joins sentences without appropriate spacing or punctuation, and the final sentence becomes difficult to control. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add subordinate clauses and vary sentence openings while checking agreement and punctuation.
