Student answer (Band 5.0)

Its important for children, young adults, working people and the ritered to atlest one hobby. In my own opion on this is yes. If keeps me healthy and stong if i have atlest one hobby.

In my own experience on this i have hobby since i was a child even when i growing up and now i still have this hobby. That hobby is playing basketball. Everytime i play that sport. I stay healthy physically and metally. It also have a lot of healthy benefits that i get.

Example on this for me it helps me for my diet. Because playing basketball always running and jumping. Since im busy for my work for the whole week. I dont have time to exercise. Every weekend i play basketball to burn some fats and it feels me relax...

Otherwise i can used this hobby to spent time with my kids.since it was busy to his school for the whole week. And I can share my knowledge and skill to him because my son want to play basketball too. And i ask him to play everytime if have extra time to maintain his body shape to be stay helthy and strong.

That is the reason why i agree to have aleast one hobby even if you getting old. Having on that you will stay physically and mentally fit. Even if i feel bored i just go to the basketball court play with my friend. It also the enjoyable playing this hobby you'll forget some of your badtimes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby, and the basketball example is relevant. You explain benefits for physical and mental health, relaxation after work, and spending time with your son, so the response addresses the topic. However, the ideas remain limited and are often asserted rather than fully explained—for example, the claim that basketball helps your diet could be developed by explaining how regular activity affects your health. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum: 245 words were counted, with the 9 words copied from the prompt excluded. Develop your reasons with more specific explanation and examples, and ensure the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces your opinion, gives personal experience, describes benefits, and ends by restating your view. This makes the main topic understandable. However, progression between ideas is not always clear, and some linking is repetitive or awkward. For instance, “Example on this for me” does not clearly introduce the next point, while “Otherwise” does not accurately signal the shift to spending time with your son. Several sentences are also isolated or fragmentary, such as “Everytime i play that sport.” Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example to the reason it supports. More accurate, varied transitions would help the reader follow the argument without relying on repeated phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “hobby,” “physically,” “mentally,” “exercise,” and “relax.” The basketball example also gives your response some relevant, personal language. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “healthy,” “hobby,” and “play.” Frequent spelling errors—such as “ritered,” “atlest,” “opion,” and “helthy”—make the writing less clear and reduce the accuracy of your vocabulary. Some expressions are also unnatural, including “it feels me relax” and “burn some fats.” Build a wider set of precise phrases for health, leisure, and family activities, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, including a reason introduced with “Because” and a sentence beginning “Since.” However, the range of structures is limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and verb forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “If keeps me healthy,” “even when i growing up,” and “I can used this hobby to spent time.” There are also problems with agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “It also have a lot of healthy benefits that i get” and the fragment “Everytime i play that sport.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and correctly inflected verb, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas. Accurate simple sentences should come before more complex structures.
