Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hobbies is very crucial to everyone. Some people argued, It is important for children, young aldults, working people and retired to have atlest one hobby. I Stongly agree having atleast one hobby. Because having on this will learn a lot of skills.

Firstly, some of our children and young aldult busy to there education for the whole week. Having a hobby will keep phyically and metally fit. Also it gives you relax. Example playing musical thing it will learn new skills and gives you relax.

Secondly, working people and retired also maintain mental and physical. Most specially if the hobby that you is playing basketball. It has a lot of health benefits that you get on this kind of hobby. Example working people are to busy for there job for almost a week and there was not enough time to do his exercise work. On weekend this was the time for working people will do his hobby. Playing basketball was keep you healthy and strong. It also meet new friends. Aside from that it was great time for everyone to spend time for the family bonding most specially if you have your own son that loves to paly basketball.

Having anykind of hobbies will be the best thing that you have. Thats is the reason why im strongly agreed to have atlest one hobby even children, young aldults, working people and retired. That will keep everyone healthy and metally fit for his own lifestyle even if your busy to your education or work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that people at different life stages should have a hobby. You address children and young adults, working people, and retired people, and give relevant reasons such as fitness, relaxation, learning skills, and meeting friends. The basketball example also helps illustrate how a hobby can fit into a working person’s weekend and involve family. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the benefits for retired people are not developed separately, and the claim that hobbies teach skills is illustrated only briefly. To strengthen the response, explain how hobbies benefit each group and develop one or two examples in more detail, showing why they support your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a concluding paragraph that restates your view. This gives the reader an overall route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking is rather mechanical. The second body paragraph moves from health benefits to work schedules, friendship, and family bonding without clearly showing how these points connect. Some references, such as “this” and “it,” are also difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports; for example, separate the health benefit from the social and family benefits, and make the people or activity referred to explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of relevant vocabulary, including “hobby,” “health benefits,” “skills,” “exercise,” and “family bonding,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “gives you relax,” “playing musical thing,” and “maintain mental and physical.” Spelling errors such as “aldults,” “atlest,” and “metally” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural phrases for discussing wellbeing and leisure, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions would help you explain the benefits without repeatedly relying on “healthy” and “hobby.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including explanations with “Because” and examples introduced by “if.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but control of sentence structure and verb forms is weak. For example, “I strongly agree having at least one hobby” needs a grammatical construction such as “I strongly agree that everyone should have at least one hobby,” while “Playing basketball was keep you healthy” has an incorrect verb pattern. Agreement and tense are also inconsistent in “Hobbies is” and “there was not enough time.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention, particularly where a full stop separates “Because” from the preceding idea. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then add complex sentences with controlled verb forms.
