Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that all people should have at least one hobby. I completely agree that these people should adopt a hobby to spend their free time. This may help them to get relax while enjoying their favourite activity.

To begin with, parents should encourage their children to develop a hobby because this may help young adults to explore themselves.By participating in different activities children can find their favorite activity, which may help them to get relax. Developing a hobby is very usefull especially for young children because it not only keep them busy but also prevent them from adapting bad habits. For example, many parents encorage their children to participate in sports, as this may improve thier physical health, while also keep them away from drugs. Therefore, it is very essential for children to have at least one hobby.

Moreover, developing a hobby is also important for people grown people. Thesedays, mostly people spend their free time on their phones by scrolling through social media. The excessive use of smart phone is bad for their health, as it require no physical activity. People need to develop a real hobby such as a sports, crafting or painting. These activies allow people to discover and develop their telent. For instance, many cooperate employees participate in sports activities such as footnball, cricket and hockey in order to stay pysically active. As a result, people should not waste their free time and develop their hobbies according to thier personality.

To conclude, I complety agree that all people should have at least one hooby, as this may help to get relax. Parents should encourage their children to discove their hobbies because this can prevent them from chossing a bad company.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that everyone should have a hobby, and you give relevant reasons about children’s wellbeing and adults’ use of free time. The examples of children taking part in sports and employees playing team sports help illustrate these points. However, the response only partly develops the task’s full scope: it focuses mainly on children and working adults, with little consideration of young adults as a distinct group or retired people. Some claims, such as hobbies preventing children from adopting bad habits, would benefit from explanation or a more specific example. To strengthen the response, address each group named in the prompt and develop each reason with clearer explanation and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs discuss children and adults, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the shift from children to “young adults” in the first body paragraph is confusing, while “Therefore” and “As a result” sometimes repeat a conclusion rather than show a precise relationship. Improve cohesion by grouping ideas more consistently, using clear references, and making each paragraph’s main point explicit before adding examples.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “free time,” “physical health,” “social media,” and “physically active,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “usefull,” “encorage,” “telent,” and “get relax.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “people grown people” and “a sports.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make the writing less fluent and sometimes require rereading. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common combinations such as “relax,” “take up a hobby,” and “participate in sports.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “which,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentences show useful control, such as “The excessive use of smart phone is bad for their health, as it require no physical activity,” though this example also contains agreement and article errors. Other problems include “it not only keep them busy” and “while also keep them away,” where the verb forms do not match the sentence structure. There are also run-on punctuation issues, such as the missing space after “themselves.” Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, and parallel verb forms, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
