Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that hobbies are more necessary in everyone lives whether they are young or old. According to my perspectives, hobbies is more crucial for everyone and age is no matter.

To begin with, there are several reasons why hobbies are pivotal for everyone. First and foremost, children has atleast one hobby because they are vulnerable if they have hobby, they can not only better grown on our lives but also get an opportunities to learn new skills. For example, when children love to play cricket, they would play within team they can learn important skills such as team work, problem solving and many more. In addition to it, hobby is also important for teenagers because these days everyone suffer from stress and anxiety due to more competition in every fields that is why they suffer from depression so if they have hobby, they can spendtime on it which assists them to get relieves from work and they can better concentrate after doing it.

Furthermore, when people retired from our work, they feel bored at home because they are alone at home because their families go for their work, they feel isolated as a consequence, they feel stress that is why if they hobby, they prefer to do these activities when they alone. For instance, if someone prefer to read books and gardenning in their free time, they prefer to do these activities which helps them to busy in some work so they have no time to think other things.

To conclude, hobbies are more essential for all ages people because it is best way to relieves from stress and helps to mind fresh.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you believe hobbies are important for people of every age, and the conclusion restates this view. You address children, teenagers and retired people, giving relevant reasons such as learning teamwork, easing stress and avoiding isolation. The cricket example usefully illustrates how a hobby can build skills. However, the task also refers to working people, and this group is not discussed directly. Some points are asserted rather than fully explained—for example, the benefits of hobbies for teenagers could be supported with a specific activity or clearer explanation of how it helps them manage pressure. Develop each age group more evenly and connect examples explicitly to your opinion to make the response more complete and convincing. The response is generally relevant, though some ideas are less developed than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from children and teenagers to retired people, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences rely on repeated connectors such as “because,” “that is why” and “so.” Some links are also unclear: in the sentence about children, the relationship between being “vulnerable,” having a hobby and growing is difficult to follow. The retired-people paragraph repeats the idea that they are alone at home. Use a wider range of linking methods, remove repeated information, and make the connection between each reason and its example more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “team work,” “problem solving,” “stress and anxiety,” “isolated” and “concentrate.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common terms such as “pivotal” and “essential.” However, noticeable word-choice, collocation and word-form errors reduce precision: “more necessary,” “get relieves,” “gardenning” and “helps to mind fresh” are not natural or accurate expressions. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “hobby” and “feel.” Build a reliable range of topic vocabulary and check how words combine in English. For example, use natural phrases for reducing stress, developing skills and keeping the mind active, rather than translating expressions directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when” and “if,” as in the discussion of teenagers and retired people. This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is usually understandable. However, there are some recurring errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “hobbies is” should use a plural verb, while “children has” also has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “First and foremost” runs several ideas together, making the relationships between clauses unclear. Review agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into complete, well-punctuated units. Practising accurate complex sentences will help you express cause and result without losing clarity.
