Student answer (Band 6.5)
I would not be surprised if someone comes forward and replaces the word "company" with the "hobby" in the famous saying "a person is known by the company he keeps".
To know someone's nature, knowing their hobby is by far the most relevant thing. Like for example, if someone likes to go on a hiking during the leisure time, you can be very definite that the person is very cautious about what he eats and the physical health is very important to him/her. On the other hand, if someone has no hobby, you can be ascertain that the person isn't organized.
Having at least one hobby helps the mind to relax. Like for example, I like to build Legos during my leisure time. In fact, I try to make room in my schedule for this activity. This helps me building up my concentration which then helps me during my work. Although this is an expensive hobby to have, but that has helped me a lot in shaping who I am today at work.
Having a hobby in life adds a purpose to it. Whether it be collecting coins, artwork or stamps, or cleaning your beloved car or playing a game of soccer, cricket or even chess, all provides satisfaction, calmness and relaxation.
Therefore, it is certainly important for everybody and highly advisable to have a hobby. And this should not be limited to children or young adults. The working and retired people too should have a hobby, which gives them a purpose.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you believe everyone, including working and retired people, should have a hobby. You give relevant reasons—relaxation, concentration, and a sense of purpose—and the Lego example makes the discussion personal and specific. This covers the task well, but the support is uneven. The opening claim that hobbies reveal a person’s nature is broad, and the hiking example does not fully explain why this makes hobbies important for everyone. The point that people without hobbies are “not organized” is also asserted rather than supported. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason more fully and avoid generalisations about people’s character.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, separate paragraphs on the benefits of hobbies, and a conclusion that restates your view. Ideas generally progress from character and relaxation to purpose, and examples help readers follow your points. However, some links feel mechanical or unclear. “Like for example” is repeated, while “On the other hand” introduces a contrast that is not developed in detail. The final paragraph repeats the central opinion without drawing together the earlier reasons. Use a wider range of natural transitions, make the relationship between each example and its claim explicit, and ensure each paragraph develops one main point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “leisure time,” “concentration,” “satisfaction,” and “purpose.” The Lego example and the list of activities also give the response some variety. There are attempts at less common or emphatic phrasing, such as “by far the most relevant thing” and “adds a purpose,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “go on a hiking,” “be ascertain,” and “make room in my schedule” in this context. Repeated wording such as “Like for example” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise collocations and natural phrasing, while keeping your ideas direct and clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional clauses (“if someone likes…”) and a concession with “Although.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “helps me building up” should be “helps me build,” and “all provides satisfaction” needs plural agreement (“all provide”). The construction “Although this is an expensive hobby to have, but…” incorrectly combines two contrasting markers; use “Although this is expensive, it has helped me…” or “This is expensive, but it has helped me…”. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction in “go on a hiking.” Check verb patterns, agreement, and clause structure carefully to improve accuracy.
