Student answer (Band 5.5)
The importance of having a hobby of each person even though you are a child, young adults, people who are working, also in the age of retirement. I think the idea on this statement is true because having nothing is basically like having a boring life.
One main reason that you have a hobby is to make your life more proactive, for example having a sport as a hobby like maintaining your body healthy and active thoughout the day. Running and going to the gym makes your life, but our life much more better rather than idling it each day. It makes our body stronger and make our life longer so we are not going to worry what would happen in the future.
Another reason that I think that it is important is on having a hobby is making also our intelligence much greater because we think and analyze everytime in our daily life. For example reading as a hobby made our knowledge much deeper by having to read any type of books and analyze it and imagining things that the book has to offer. Also another thing that made us more critical thinkers where we consume different kinds of information and analyze it rather than not knowing what is real or not.
In conclusion, it is great to everyone that everybody has a hobby even if you are a kid, adult, worker, and retired people. It does not matter as long as you have one to enjoy the life that you wanted and make it out of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that people at every life stage should have a hobby, and you give two relevant reasons—physical activity and intellectual development. The examples of running, going to the gym, and reading help connect these reasons to the topic. This addresses the main parts of the question, but the support is uneven: the benefits of exercise are explained in general terms, while the reading example gives a little more detail about gaining knowledge and analysing ideas. The claim that exercise makes life longer, for instance, would be stronger with a brief explanation or a specific example. To develop the response further, explain how hobbies benefit people in different stages of life, rather than mainly listing age groups in the introduction and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your opinion, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your view. The progression from physical benefits to intellectual benefits is easy to follow, and examples are placed with the relevant points. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. Phrases such as “Another reason that I think that it is important is on having a hobby” make the start of the second body paragraph difficult to process, while “Also another thing” repeats the linking function without adding a clear relationship. Some references, including “it” in “analyze it,” could be more precise. Use simpler topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “hobby,” “active,” “knowledge,” and “critical thinkers.” There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “analyze” and “intelligence.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For example, “make your life more proactive” does not naturally describe the benefit of a hobby, and “much more better” is not an appropriate comparative expression. “Idling it each day” is also unclear. Aim to learn common word partnerships for discussing health, leisure, and learning, and choose precise verbs rather than repeating general words such as “make” and “thing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including explanations introduced by “because” and examples introduced by “for example.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some sentence structures are faulty and there are errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction. For instance, “Running and going to the gym makes” should use a plural verb, and “reading as a hobby made our knowledge” shifts awkwardly into the past tense when describing a general benefit. The opening sentence is also a fragment rather than a complete statement, and “It makes our body stronger and make our life longer” does not maintain consistent agreement. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and tense consistency.
