Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that it is essential for all age groups to have at least one hobby. I strongly believe with this as it helps with mental peace and to stay active overall.
One of the primary reasons is engaging an individuals' mind in an activity. When a person is stressed, one of his loved activity will help him to calm down and think better. It also works to distract from negative thoughts. It is often recommended by psychology therapist to have one hobby like arts or sport to declutter thoughts and reduce anxiety. This is extremely helpful for adults and retired people. Addtionally, it also works with children. For example, a high energetic child who likes painting, will be sitting quitely when given a coloring book. Hence, a hobby is important to achieve and maintain mental wellbeing.
Another reason is to stay active while having work commitmemt or in retirement. A physical activity as an hobby encourages working people or young adults to stay fit and active. For instances, a corporate employee who loves football, playing games in the evening helps him to stay fit. Furthermore, it is beneficial for older people as well. This is because they have ample of time in their day, having nothing to do effects their physical and mental health. Having one hobby, keeps them engaged from overthinking and deterioting health. One example of this is my retired mother, she loves knitting,so,she is creatively engaged whole day. This demonstrates why having at least one hobby is particularly important in addressing overall being.
To conclude, it is extremely valuable to have at least one hobby by children, young adults, working people and the retired for peace and fitness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly support hobbies for people of all ages, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the main parts of the prompt by explaining benefits for mental wellbeing and physical activity, with relevant examples such as the child who paints and your retired mother who knits. These examples help extend your reasons rather than merely listing them. The discussion is generally persuasive, although some claims are broad—for example, that older people have “ample of time” and that a hobby keeps them engaged “whole day”—and could be qualified or explained more precisely. Develop the effects of hobbies with a little more detail, especially for young adults, to make the support consistently convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from mental wellbeing to physical activity is easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the primary reasons,” “Another reason,” and “To conclude” make the organisation explicit. Examples are placed near the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several links feel mechanical, particularly the repeated “For example,” “Furthermore,” and “This is because.” Some references, such as “This” in “This demonstrates why,” are broad rather than precise. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make links between claims and examples more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “mental wellbeing,” “reduce anxiety,” “stay fit,” and “creatively engaged.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “declutter thoughts” and “overthinking,” but some combinations are unnatural or imprecise: “mental peace,” “a physical activity as an hobby,” and “addressing overall being.” Spelling errors such as “Addtionally,” “commitmemt,” and “deterioting” are noticeable, and inaccurate word forms or collocations sometimes make the reader pause. The range is therefore functional but limited in precision. Build a bank of natural collocations for hobbies and wellbeing, and proofread spelling and word forms so that your ideas sound more fluent and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and subordinate structures: “When a person is stressed…” and “This is because they have…” This gives the response some variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors recur in sentence construction and grammatical forms. For example, “one of his loved activity” has problems with the determiner, number, and structure; “a high energetic child … will be sitting” is not formed naturally; and “having nothing to do effects their physical and mental health” uses an incorrect verb form and sentence relationship. There are also article and agreement problems in “as an hobby” and “Having one hobby, keeps them engaged.” Practise accurate noun phrases, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
