Student answer (Band 6.0)

Every children, youg adults, professionals as well as oldage people must have profound interest in having a hobby. I firmly believe with the statement, as it allows one to live a different life from regular lives as well as one can improve the skills.

Nowadays, every person has hectic schedule whether one is a student or a professional, a hobby can helps one to cope from the daily responsibities and allow to live a peaceful life and enjoy it. Furthermore, retired people are facing intence loneliness, having a profound interest in any activity can make their lives better and happy. In a survey, it was stated that, " People who tend to enjoy their lives by having a hobby such as cricket, tennis, cooking ,etc. are more likely to live healthy lives." Hence, a hobby can turn a ordinary life into extra-ordinary life.

Another core benefit is skill development, this is one such thing that is crucial for everyone. A hobby can implement their abilities, particularly - if a person has interest in reading then his or her ability to focus as well as thinking ability will improve gradually. A book called " benefits of having a hobby " stated that, " A hobby is only thing which can improve skills while enjoying learning it."

In conclusion, to implement the lives everyone should have atleast one hobby, as it provide the better life from daily one. Furthermore, skills can be improved by enjoying learing it, is only possible by having profound interest in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby. You give two relevant reasons—hobbies can provide relief from daily pressures and help develop skills—and include examples such as reading and activities for retired people. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not equally developed. The discussion of stress and loneliness is supported with a broad survey claim, while the skill-development point would benefit from a more specific example showing how a hobby builds a particular ability. The conclusion restates your view, though it could draw the two reasons together more clearly. To strengthen the response, explain the examples in more detail and avoid relying on unsupported general claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. The progression from wellbeing to skill development is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Another core benefit,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical, and a few sentences join ideas in ways that make their relationship unclear. For example, “Another core benefit is skill development, this is one such thing…” is a comma splice, while the final sentence combines several points without a clear structure. Improve cohesion by using complete sentence boundaries and linking each example directly to the claim it supports; also make references such as “it” and “their” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “hectic schedule,” “daily responsibilities,” “loneliness,” and “skill development,” and the main ideas remain understandable. There are also some less natural or inaccurate choices that limit precision: “profound interest” is repeated where “hobby” or “regular leisure activity” would be more natural, and “implement their abilities” does not express the intended idea of developing skills. Spelling errors such as “youg,” “intence,” “responsibities,” and “learing” are noticeable, as are awkward phrases like “a ordinary life” and “extra-ordinary life.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your vocabulary more effective without needing unnecessarily elaborate wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “whether” and “if.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Every children … must,” “a hobby can helps,” and “a hobby can turn a ordinary life”; these need corrected number agreement, verb form, and article use. The sentence beginning “Another core benefit…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma, and “as it provide” has an agreement error. Practise building accurate complex sentences and proofreading each clause for its subject and verb. More reliable control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
