Student answer (Band 5.5)

Yes, all people should have atleast one hobby in their life. Even if they are children, youngers, working employees and retired. It is very important because they can find career in their hobby and peace.

Nowdays, it is very hard to get in any company. if people have a hobby like photography, painter, influencer etc. They don't have to apply in any organization. They can set their career without someone help. In this technological era, people can just post their hobby on instagram, facebook, youtube or any other platforms. They can get popular and earn. So, everyone can see their talent. It is best way to earn. They can work whenever they want. Don't need to rely on anyone and don't have to work someone under. Because if people like to do something, they put all their efforts into that thing. For example; when i was in school, one of my friend was really good in painting. She made so many pictures and participated in competition. She won first prize. Now she is popular painter. It was her hobby but she create this hobby into career.

In addition, one more reason why everyone have hobby in their life because they can find peace. When we work eveyday. we start feeling exhausted and irritated, we do our favourite thing like our hobby. We feel happy and relaxed. For instance; some people like travelling. After working everyday and get vacation. They go on a travelling to find peace to forget busy life. This give them calmness. They feel fresh.

In conclusion, all generation people should have a hobby so can not only find career but also peace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby, and you give two relevant reasons—hobbies may become careers and can provide relaxation. The painting example supports the career point, while travelling illustrates how a hobby can help someone unwind. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not developed equally: the career discussion is much longer and includes broad claims such as hobbies being the “best way to earn,” whereas the benefit of relaxation receives less explanation. The response would be stronger with a more balanced discussion and clearer qualification of claims, for example by explaining that a hobby can sometimes lead to work but need not become a career. The conclusion restates your view but adds little synthesis of the reasons given.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two reasons, and a concluding statement. Signposting such as “In addition” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the progression, and the examples are placed alongside the points they support. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated patterns such as “For example” and “For instance,” and some links between sentences are unclear. In the career paragraph, several short statements—“They can get popular and earn” and “So, everyone can see their talent”—do not connect smoothly to the preceding claim. The opening fragment beginning “Even if they are children” also interrupts the flow. Use clearer references and combine related ideas so the progression feels more continuous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “career,” “participated in competition,” “exhausted,” “irritated,” and “calmness.” The examples also show an attempt to use words beyond very basic everyday language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “youngers,” “find career,” “work someone under,” and “go on a travelling.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “Nowdays” and “eveyday,” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they make parts sound unnatural. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing hobbies, employment, and wellbeing, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a conditional idea in “if people have a hobby” and a time clause beginning “When we work everyday.” The main message remains understandable, but errors occur in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles. For example, “Even if they are children…” is a fragment, while “one of my friend was” and “she create this hobby into career” show problems with number and verb form. The sentence beginning “When we work…” is also separated from its main clause by a full stop. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly after sentence breaks and with “i.” To improve, practise joining dependent clauses to complete sentences and check subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms.
