Student answer (Band 5.5)
Yes, For my opinion it is compulsory to have at least one hobby for all type of age catagory like children, young adults, working people and retired people. Because without any hobby life is become boring. First i am talking about now day's children. These children are very sensitive because of technology, bad eating habit like eat junk food, etc. This technology become children lasy and dum. Technology easy all the things. Children access all type of things like in door game, order food for outside. In my prospective thay should have atleast one hobby to clean there mind and start building there body for all the conditions. And i am talking about young adults there are quite motivation but thay don't have perfect path to build there self. So thay have one hobby to build there senses and focused on thing to achive. Now i am discussing about working people my openion on these people. Thay must have a hobby to distract there my one side to another. Because there people are suffering more and more because of there busy schedule, hacktick work pressure. i can relate because i am also working person. So these people should have a hobby to overcome there stress. And i am talking about retired people thay because bored at home so thay also need a hobby like my grandfather thay also retired and become bored at home so thay have a hobby on evening time my grandfather go to the farm every single day to escape the boring life. Thay have hobby of gardening and grow new plants, fruit and vegetables. I my opinion every retired person have a hobby to overcome there boring life like my grandfather do. so this is my opinion to all age catagory.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe people of every age should have a hobby, and you address children, young adults, working people and retired people. The examples about work-related stress and your grandfather’s gardening make the response relevant and personal. However, the groups are not developed equally. The points about children and young adults are less clearly explained, and claims such as technology making children “lazy and dumb” would be stronger with a specific explanation of how a hobby helps. To develop the response further, explain the benefits of hobbies with more precise cause-and-effect reasoning and support each age-group point consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows a recognisable sequence, moving through the four age groups, and the reader can generally follow your main position. However, the repeated openings—“First,” “And I am talking about,” and “Now I am discussing”—make the progression mechanical. The essay is also presented as one long paragraph, so the shifts between age groups are not visually clear. Some references, such as “these people” and “there,” are difficult to connect to a precise noun. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, related age groups and conclusion, and vary linking phrases. Clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “hobby,” “technology,” “work pressure,” “stress,” and “gardening,” and the personal example gives you some useful topic-specific language. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “boring” and “hobby.” Some inaccurate choices make meaning less clear, such as “build there senses” and “distract there my one side to another.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “lasy,” “hacktick,” and “catagory,” are also noticeable. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for benefits and activities, and check spelling and collocations so your ideas are expressed more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and examples introduced by “like.” However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “life is become boring” needs a correct verb form, while “these people are suffering more and more because of there busy schedule” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly after sentence openings and around longer ideas. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles and verb forms when editing.
