Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people of different ages benefit from having a hobby, and you give two relevant reasons—keeping people occupied and improving wellbeing and productivity. The examples about older people being at home and adults feeling stressed help connect the argument to the groups in the prompt. However, the ideas remain limited and are not developed with specific examples or explanation; for instance, the claim that hobbies improve productivity is asserted rather than illustrated. The response also does not fully address the task because it is 51 words below the required minimum, leaving little room to extend your reasoning. Develop each main point with a concrete example and explain how it supports your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and linking expressions such as “To commence with,” “Another leading factor,” and “In other words.” This makes the overall line of argument understandable. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and several links do not clearly show how one idea follows from another. For example, “With this they can perform better further Hence” combines transitions awkwardly, while “Also youngers can also” repeats a linking word. Some references, such as “this sense of disruption,” are unclear. Use fewer formulaic transitions, connect each explanation directly to its main point, and make pronoun references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “occupied,” “sense of satisfaction,” “regular routines,” and “mental health.” These choices show an attempt to discuss benefits beyond simply passing time. However, the range is limited, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “cruical,” “yonger,” “massives,” and “mental heatlh”; “habit” is also less precise than “hobby” in this context. Some phrases are unnatural, such as “a greater sense of satisfaction” after “get occupied” and “to more productivity.” Build a small set of accurate topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “when people get exhausted from their regular routines” and a contrast between different age groups. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “it some situations” lacks a grammatical verb, “This not only help them” has subject–verb disagreement, and “it is advantageous this way” has an awkward sentence structure. Punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops are also inconsistent, making some sentences run together. Practise forming complete clauses, checking agreement and verb forms, and separating ideas with accurate punctuation.
