Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear general opinion that hobbies benefit people, and you offer relevant reasons, including enjoyment, stress relief, earning money, and gaining recognition through social media. However, the response only partly addresses the task: it does not clearly discuss why having a hobby matters across the different age groups named in the prompt, and the opening shifts towards having a “special talent” rather than simply pursuing a hobby. Several claims, such as people with interests “never fail in their life,” are broad and not convincingly supported. Develop two or three focused reasons, explain how they benefit different groups, and use a specific example to support each. A more consistent focus on hobbies, rather than talent or knowledge, would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs introduced by “First and foremost” and “Moving further,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through your ideas. The paragraphs also generally keep related points together, such as social media and gaining recognition. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking phrases can feel mechanical. For example, “To explain this” and “To elaborate” introduce explanations that do not always clarify the preceding claim, while the connection between hobbies, employment, and being “free to do anything” is unclear. Use clearer topic sentences and make each example directly support its paragraph’s main point. Check punctuation around transitions and avoid joining several ideas into one long sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “stress free,” “social media platforms,” “popularity,” and “identity,” and you try to express ideas about wellbeing and recognition. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “faithfull for them,” “putting full of their effect,” and “set a identity” do not communicate your intended meaning naturally. Some wording also shifts away from the topic: “great knowledge about anything” is not the same as having a hobby. Build a reliable set of phrases for discussing leisure activities and their benefits, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise, familiar expressions over ambitious phrases you cannot yet control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “if,” “because,” and “as a result,” and the reader can usually identify your main point. However, the range is limited in control, and errors occur frequently, particularly in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “at least one hobby make people life” needs a singular verb and a possessive form, while “they makes money” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. In “they not only enjoying more … but also they feel,” the verb forms are not parallel. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time and check agreement, articles, and parallel structures.
