Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, it is seen that every individual must have side interest in atleast one thing as it helps to boost their mind. It is essential for kids, teenagers, employers and the senior ctizens to have at leat one side interest as well. I strongly agree with this viewpoint, and i will explain the reasons for my opinion in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, having a hooby helps individuals to stay busy and they feel relaxed by doing the thing in which they have interest. It is often seen that youngsters have intrest in reading books as it helps them to gain knowledge. For instance, a survey were held in Oxford where 70% of kids say that they have a hobby ofreading book in their free time.
Moreover, employers and teenagers should also have a hobby as it is good for their mental health as they can feel stressed from the their work as well as their studies.Furthermore, they should do exercises as this helps them to stsay fit and can stay away from illness. It is very esssential for senior ctizens to have a side intrest as their body should remain active all the time because staying at home they can feel stressed.
In conclusion, everyone should have a hobby as this will result in betterment of their lives and they will fell enjoyable by having a hobby. A hobby helps an individual to be free from all the stress of the day and they can enjoy at that time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I strongly agree,” and the conclusion restates that everyone should have a hobby. You address several groups named in the prompt and give relevant reasons, including relaxation, learning, mental health and staying active. The example about children reading supports one point, although the survey detail is brief and not explained further. Some parts are less fully developed: the discussion of working people is mainly about feeling stressed, while the point about older people being active is asserted rather than supported with a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain how hobbies benefit each group and develop one or two examples in more detail, while keeping your position clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from the benefits of hobbies to a summary, and linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal this organisation. However, the connections between some ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover” introduces employers and teenagers, but the paragraph then shifts to exercise and older people without clearly showing how these points relate. The repeated use of “as” also makes some sentences feel loosely joined. Grouping each benefit with a clear explanation and using more precise references between sentences would make the progression smoother and cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “mental health,” “knowledge,” “relaxed” and “active.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “hobby” and “side interest.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “hooby,” “intrest,” “esssential” and “ctizens,” which reduce accuracy. Some word choices or combinations are unnatural, including “boost their mind,” “feel enjoyable” and “free from all the stress of the day.” Aim to use a wider range of natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “a hobby can improve wellbeing” is clearer and more idiomatic than “boost their mind.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “as” and “because,” and the main message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence boundaries. For example, “a survey were held” should use a singular verb, and “70% of kids say” does not fit smoothly with the past-time framing of the survey. In “they can feel stressed from the their work,” the article pattern is faulty, while “they will fell enjoyable” has an incorrect verb form and structure. There is also a missing space after “studies.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles and verb forms, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries to improve control while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
