Student answer (Band 6.0)
Hobby is a huge part in everyones life. If you go to a job interveiw, the interveiwer make sures that he or she asks you about your interests and hobbies, not because he/she wants to be your friend., Its beacuse your hobbies help him/her identify, what kind of person you are. further in this essay, i will be writing about how the hobiies are important for children, young adults, working people and even for people who are retired.
Talking about children and young adults first, a hobby plays a vital role in shaping their better future and helps them to acheive success in their adult life. It helps a child realise his or her own potential. For example, my nephew used to be sacred of interacting with new children at his school, so his parents decided to put him in a debate club and surprisingly, only in a few weeks he started making friends in school and was more interactive with people around him.
It also plays a crucial role in an adults life. In todays world where everbody is busy with their jobs and businesses, hoby hepls one to acheive the feeling of relaxation and calm. For instance, I play pool every monday with my friends because it gives me joy. It also helps a retired person by giving him or her a reason to get out of the bed, which helps them to stay healthy and busy.
I would like to conclude by saying that my hobbies had played a great role in making me the man i am today. so in my opinion everyone must have a hobby in their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe everyone should have a hobby, and you address children, young adults, working people and retired people. The examples about your nephew joining a debate club and your weekly pool game make the discussion relevant and personal. However, the groups are not developed equally: children and young adults receive a specific example, while the benefits for working people and retirees are stated more briefly. The opening point about interviewers asking about hobbies is also not fully connected to your main argument. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how hobbies benefit each group and link each example directly to your opinion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to age-group examples and then a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the main points, and phrases such as “For example” and “For instance” introduce supporting details. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Further in this essay” is an awkward signpost, and the opening moves from job interviews to the importance of hobbies without clearly explaining the link. The final paragraph repeats the opinion but does not draw together the earlier reasons. Use transitions that show how each point supports your position, and make references such as “It also plays” explicit by naming the hobby’s role or benefit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “shaping their better future,” “realise his or her own potential,” “feeling of relaxation and calm,” and “crucial role.” These expressions help communicate the main ideas, and the personal examples are easy to understand. However, spelling errors and imprecise or repetitive choices reduce accuracy, as in “interveiw,” “hobiies,” “acheive,” and “hoby hepls.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “get out of the bed” and “plays a huge part in everyones life.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and vary repeated words such as “helps” and “hobby” where the meaning allows.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms. For example, the sentence beginning “For example, my nephew used to be…” combines a situation, a decision and a result, while “because it gives me joy” adds a reason. Meaning is generally clear, but some errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, tense and punctuation remain. In the opening, “the interviewer make sures” has an agreement and verb-form problem, and “friend., Its” contains faulty punctuation and sentence separation. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “further,” “i” and “so.” Review subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and proofread punctuation and capital letters to make your varied structures more controlled.
