Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hobby is a leisure activity. That helps people to relax in there free time. In my opinion, i believe that every person should have one favourite activity that helps to relax their mind.

On the one hand, poor people do not have money and time to follow their hobby. This is mean that due to poverty people have to work day and night and also have to manage their finance. For instance, poor students have to work part-time to pay college fees. As a result they do not have enough time to follow their hobby. Furthermore, Job workers are so busy with their work. It means they spend long hours at office and feel tired after coming back from the job. For instance, worker who do day shift and night shift may not able to spare some time for a hobby.

On the other hand, Hobby helps people to spend some qulaity time with their activity.children who have hobby may get busy in some productive activities. This is mean that students may not involve in a bad group of friends. For example, children can play football in summer vacation and improve their skills. Moreover, retired people can get involved in useful acitivities. if they don't have hobby they may get bored. Hobby that requires less physical activity such as, painting, music and decoration helps them to maintain their well-being. For example, aged people can pass their time by reading a book. Furthermore, working people can relax thier mind with the help of their hobbies. For example, a full time worker can continue their coaching class for a singing. That helps them to reduce their stress.

To conclude, in my opinion every people should have atleast one hobby to reduce their stress and helps to relax their mind. As a result they can work effeciently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe everyone should have a hobby to relax and reduce stress. You address several groups named in the prompt, including children, working people and retired people, and support your points with examples such as football, reading and singing classes. The discussion of people with limited money or time adds a relevant qualification. However, this opening point is not fully reconciled with your conclusion that everyone should have a hobby, and the examples about busy workers and poor students are explained more than some of the benefits. Develop the qualification by suggesting accessible, low-cost hobbies, then explain more fully how hobbies benefit young adults as well as the other groups.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from barriers to benefits is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help readers navigate the argument. Within paragraphs, however, the repeated use of “For instance” and “Furthermore” can make the development feel mechanical. Some links between ideas are also unclear: the first paragraph moves from poverty to busy workers without explicitly showing how these are related, while the conclusion does not resolve the contrast between barriers and the claim that everyone should have a hobby. Use more varied transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “leisure activity,” “productive activities,” “well-being” and “reduce their stress.” The examples also show an attempt to use language suited to different age groups. However, the range is limited by repeated words such as “hobby,” “people,” “time” and “work,” and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce precision. For example, “quality time with their activity” is unnatural, and “Job workers” does not clearly describe employees. Spelling slips such as “qulaity,” “acitivities” and “effeciently” are noticeable. Build a wider set of natural phrases for discussing leisure, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “who,” “that” and “if,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are controlled, as in “For example, children can play football in summer vacation and improve their skills.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries occur in several places. Examples include “every people should,” “This is mean,” “worker who do,” and “may not able to spare”; these should be revised to use accurate subject–verb agreement and complete verb patterns. There are also punctuation and capitalization problems, such as “activity.children” and the lowercase “if” after a full stop. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb and appropriate punctuation.
