Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is undeniable that nowadays in this busy era everyone is busy with their work schedules, their responsibilities etcetera.Children are busy with their studies, adults are busy with their studies and work and elderly people are busy with their responsibilities like taking care of children and doing household chores. It is really very necessary to have some hobbies in their lives to stay active and make life interesting. In this essay i will discuss the reasons behind why individual have at least one hobby to enjoy their life in this sedentry and busy lifestyle.

There are many reasons why some individuals believe that its important to have some interesting activities in the life. The prominent reason is that in this today's competitive era its very difficult to maintain a work life balance.Hence, people are busy in making money and improves their way of living and they forget to enjoy their lives. So if they have atleast one hobby in their lives like reading books , doing any physical activity like playing games , singing or dancing they can better spend life with themselves.Secondly, some people have natural talents like sports, singing and dancing but their family responsibilities push them to work harder rather than spending time on their talents and hobbies.

In my opinion , i believe that it is good to spend time on their hobbies because of the following reasons. The first and foremost reason is that individuals can freshen their minds as well as they will be physically active and fit if they do hobbies like sports, running etcetera. They can better able to make a work life balance. In addition, people will know about their natural talent. For example,if a person has a talent of drawing or painting then he or she will definitely become an artist.Last but not least , hobbies are stress reliever activities and it helps people to distract themselves from their worries and problems for sometimes. Therefore, it is definitely to have some hobbies and interesting activities in the people's lives.

In conclusion, i would like to reiterate that thate are some positive reasons of having hobbies in the individual's lives because of health benefits and improving their natural talents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support people of all ages having hobbies, and you give relevant reasons, including staying active, balancing work and life, discovering talents, and relieving stress. The examples of sport and drawing help illustrate your points. The response addresses the task, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. For instance, the claim that a person who draws will “definitely become an artist” is too certain and would benefit from a realistic explanation of how a hobby can develop a talent. You also mention children, adults, and elderly people in the introduction, but the body focuses mainly on people in general. Develop one or two examples more specifically to make the support more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The main position is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Secondly,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help show the stages of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, with several points introduced through formulaic phrases such as “The first and foremost reason” and “Last but not least.” Connections between ideas are occasionally unclear; for example, the sentence about family responsibilities and natural talents is not fully linked to the preceding point about work-life balance. Referencing also becomes awkward in phrases such as “it helps people,” where the subject is plural. Use fewer stock transitions and make the relationship between each reason and its example more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “work-life balance,” “responsibilities,” “natural talents,” and “stress reliever,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “reiterate” and “prominent reason.” However, several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, including “sedentry and busy lifestyle,” “spend life with themselves,” and “positive reasons.” Repetition of “busy,” “hobbies,” and “activities” also limits flexibility. Spelling and word-form errors such as “sedentry,” “atleast,” and “thate” reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise, familiar vocabulary is more effective than formal-sounding phrases used inaccurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “if,” and “rather than,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are handled successfully, such as the explanation that hobbies can help people “freshen their minds” and stay active. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “individual have” needs subject–verb agreement, “people are busy in making money and improves” shifts verb form, and “they can better able to make” combines incompatible structures. Punctuation and spacing around commas are also inconsistent. Review agreement and verb patterns, and proofread each sentence for a complete, grammatically consistent structure.
