Student answer (Band 5.5)

Hobbies are regular, enjoyable activities that are pursued for personal satisfaction and leisure time rather than work or external reward. It is believed that they are very crucial for children, young adults, working people and the retired to have atleast one hobby. I completely agree with the above statement. This essay will focus on the importance of hobby in an indiviual life.

To begin with, hobbies can break the monotonous routine of a person's life. For example, a working person who loves to play football and continues to do that after work will never feel dull or bore while following his repetitive routine tasks. Additionally, indiviual will feel happy, cheerful and full of life.Secondly, a person who focuses on a hobby in their leisure time keeps themselves engaged that acts better option to utilize that time productively.

Probing further, pursuing a hobby will result in personal growth and satisfaction because an indiviual can put hundred percent of his efforts while doing preferred activities. Moreover, working on a hobby can reduce stress and relax a person's mind if suffering from any other tension. Also, hobbies really help indiviuals to evolve in their preferrable fields.

To recapitulate, it is very important to have hobbies as they have enorous benefits like a person never lose interest in doing repetitve activities and can feel active and full of energy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: “I completely agree,” and the response gives relevant reasons, including breaking routine, using leisure time productively, reducing stress, and supporting personal growth. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than developed with specific explanation or examples; the football example is useful but brief, and the other claims are general. The conclusion repeats the main view without adding a developed final insight. The response also contains 213 words, below the required 250; 11 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This limits how fully you can explain and support your ideas, so address the shortfall by extending each main point with a concrete example and its effect.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Its ideas follow a generally logical order, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” “Secondly,” and “To recapitulate” help the reader follow the argument. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, the linking is sometimes mechanical, particularly where several points are introduced in succession without showing how they relate. The reference in “that acts better option” is also unclear, and the final paragraph largely repeats earlier claims rather than synthesising them. To strengthen progression, connect each supporting sentence explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea and use clearer referencing, while varying transitions rather than relying on a sequence of markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “monotonous routine,” “personal growth,” “satisfaction,” and “reduce stress.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the opening definition shows an attempt to use more formal language. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “hobby” and “person,” while several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce precision: “feel dull or bore,” “preferrable fields,” “enorous benefits,” and “repetitve activities.” Some phrases, such as “full of life,” are also repeated or general. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording will make your argument clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“A working person who loves to play football…”) and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “Additionally, indiviual will feel” needs an article, and “a person who focuses… keeps themselves engaged that acts” has an unclear grammatical connection and agreement. There are also missing spaces after commas and full stops, as in “To begin with, hobbies” and “life.Secondly.” Work on building complete, clearly connected clauses and checking articles and agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make the varied structures easier to follow.
