Student answer (Band 6.5)
Hobbies are enjoyable activities that are pursued by indiviual for personal satisfaction and leisure time rather than work or external reward. It is believed that hobbies are very crucial for children, young adults, working people and the retired to have atleast one. I completely agree with the above statement. This essay will focus on the importance of hobby in an indiviual life in forthcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, hobbies can break the monotonous routine of a person's life. To illustrate, children spend most of their time at school and working indiviuals at their respective jobs following their repetitive routine tasks as per job demand. However, pursuing their hobby after school and job will lower their stress and keep them happy, cheerful and full of energy. It also help them to return back with more concentration and interest. Adding to it, retired people can also spend their leisure time pursuing their hobbies as it will keep them active and help them utilize their time efficiently and productively.
Probing further, hobbies are very important because it evolves a person's personality and character as some hobbies need creativity, patience and co-operation. For example, hobbies like music requires concentration and patience to learn while a team play requires co-operation and coordination. Therefore, these activities improve person's nature which helps them both in their education and at workplace. Hence, giving valuable time to continue their hobby can also become a person's choice of career too like learning music can make them singer or either musician.
To recapitulate, it is very important to have hobbies as they have enormous benefits in personal growth and health. People can choose hobbies as their career options and can also prioritise it spend their free time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I completely agree,” and the response stays focused on why hobbies matter to different age groups. You give relevant reasons, including reducing stress, keeping retired people active, and developing qualities such as patience and cooperation. The examples of learning music and team play help illustrate these points. This meets the task well, while the range of support is not equally developed: the career benefit is introduced briefly, and the discussion could explain more specifically how hobbies benefit young adults and working people beyond relieving routine. To strengthen the response further, extend each main idea with a concrete example or explanation and make the conclusion’s final point about prioritising hobbies clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct reasons, and a concluding paragraph. Ideas progress logically from relaxation and routine to personal development, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Probing further,” and “To recapitulate” make the stages easy to follow. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and a few connections could be more precise. For example, “Adding to it” is less natural as a transition, while “Therefore” and “Hence” occur close together in the second body paragraph. The conclusion also moves quickly from summarising benefits to career choice. Use a wider variety of natural transitions and connect the final point more explicitly to the paragraph’s explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “monotonous routine,” “concentration,” “co-operation,” “coordination,” and “personal growth.” These choices help communicate relevant ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “evolves a person’s personality,” “a team play,” and “prioritise it spend their free time.” There are also spelling errors, including “indiviual,” “atleast,” and “co-operation” (usually written as “cooperation” in this context). These do not prevent understanding, but they limit naturalness. Focus on accurate collocations and check spelling; prefer straightforward, idiomatic phrasing over expressions that sound formal but do not fit.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “while.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the paragraph structure supports the reader. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “It also help them” should be “It also helps them,” and “hobbies like music requires” needs a plural verb or a singular subject. In “improve person’s nature,” an article or possessive determiner is needed. The final sentence, “can also prioritise it spend their free time,” is not grammatically complete in its current form. Review agreement and article use, and revise sentences aloud to check that each clause has a clear, correctly formed structure.
