Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is vital for people of all ages that they should have at least one hobby and I agree with this viewpoint. Because doing what people love to do has many benefits.

The major advantage for people of pursuing a hobby is that it helps to their physical and metal health. There are many activities and games like football, cricket, gym ,and yoga that require body movements, heavy lifting ,and running. So, having these kinds of hobbies help to maintain a fit body. Seconndly, adults and working people have stress associated with their studies and jobs, but spending time what they love to do improves their mental help by getting relief from work pressure.

Pursuing minimum one hobby provides an opportunity to connect new people. Either it is young or retired people, when people go outside and meet people with the same interest, it help them to connect with others and make a friendly network. This networking can help children to make new friends, working people can get opportunity to get new career advices and retired people get a chance to go outside than spending time alone at home.

In my opinion, having a hobby is benefical for people becuase it not only help them to maintain a fit mind and body, they can choose it as their profession. Some people love to do video editing or playing soocer, so rather than working at job they can generate money for their survival while enjoying what they like to do.

To conclude, to take up at least one hobby is improtant for people because it has many advantages for them and I have the same opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that people of all ages should have a hobby, and you maintain this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including physical and mental wellbeing, meeting people, and the possibility of earning a living from a hobby. The examples of sports, yoga, video editing and football help make the discussion concrete. This covers the task well, but some points are asserted more than explained. For instance, the claim that hobbies can provide career advice or become a profession would be stronger with a brief, specific example showing how this might happen. Developing the consequences of each main reason more fully would make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for health and social benefits, a further point about earning money, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Secondly,” “In my opinion,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical, and a few references are unclear. For example, “Either it is young or retired people” does not clearly connect to the point about meeting others, while “this networking” refers broadly to the previous sentence. Use more natural transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit. This would improve cohesion while preserving the clear paragraphing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “physical and mental health,” “work pressure,” “friendly network,” and “generate money.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “pursuing a hobby” and “career advice.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “metal health,” “Seconndly,” “benefical,” “becuase,” “improtant,” and “soocer” appear in the response. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “connect new people,” “career advices,” and “fit mind and body.” Aim for accurate spelling and learn common word partnerships as complete phrases. More precise vocabulary would help express your ideas naturally and avoid occasional difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “but.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement occur across the response. For example, “Because doing what people love to do has many benefits” is a sentence fragment, and “having these kinds of hobbies help” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “it help them to connect” and “it not only help them.” Some sentences also combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise forming complete sentences and checking that singular subjects take singular verbs. Greater accuracy in these patterns, alongside your attempts at complex sentences, would make the argument easier to follow.
