Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear general opinion that people of all ages should have a hobby, and you offer relevant reasons: reading can build knowledge, while yoga may help retired people feel relaxed and stay healthy. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are brief and not sufficiently explained or supported with specific examples. The discussion also focuses mainly on reading and retired people, with little development of hobbies’ value for children, young adults, or working people. The conclusion is difficult to follow and does not clearly summarise your reasons. The response is 56 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your position. Extend each main idea with explanation and a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. These markers help the reader identify the stages of your response. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the ideas are not always connected clearly. For example, the first body paragraph moves from hobbies to reading and then to becoming “a good person in society” without explaining the link. Some transitions, such as “In the result,” are awkward, while the final paragraph does not clearly bring the argument together. Develop one central point in each paragraph and use linking phrases to show cause, contrast, or consequence accurately. Clearer paragraph development would make the response easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “interests,” “preference,” “knowledge,” “exercise,” and “diseases,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts of the response difficult to interpret, such as “medication” where you appear to mean meditation, “hody,” and “mistskes.” Phrases such as “this jot only” and “learn new experenice from old one's” are also unclear. Aim to use precise, familiar expressions rather than attempting phrases you are unsure about, and check spelling carefully. Building vocabulary for benefits of hobbies—such as stress relief, social connection, and personal development—would help you explain your ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional example beginning “If someone have good interest in reading books.” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “everyone need” instead of “everyone needs,” “hobby play” instead of “a hobby plays,” and “this thing give” instead of “this gives.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, particularly in the opening and conclusion, where ideas run together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses. Breaking long or unclear sentences into shorter ones will improve control and readability.
